Song Feng backed away in terror, forcing a smile. “Chen Jing, how can you still joke around at a time like this? Hurry up and restore me. Once we get out, I’ll give you however much money you want.”

Chen Jing’s eyes were filled with venom. “Song Feng, I’ve followed you for so long, and in the end you treated me like a piece of merchandise and handed me over to Zhu Kai for his amusement. Did you ever think about how I felt?”

“I did think about it. But Chen Jing, you have to understand—Zhu Kai was far too powerful back then. If we hadn’t agreed, none of us would have come out of it well.” Song Feng’s eyes flickered. “Don’t worry. Once we get through this, I’ll give you my family’s villa. You’ve always wanted to buy a house, haven’t you? I’ll give it to you.”

Chen Jing chuckled. “I have no interest in that anymore. Besides, I already know the passwords to your bank accounts, so you can go ahead and die.”

“Wait…” Song Feng’s expression changed drastically. “I still have money. My parents have money too. I can get it for you.”

“Haha, there’s no need for that. By then, I’ll personally go over and kill your entire family. Then I’ll get what I want.”

Before Song Feng could say anything else, Chen Jing plunged a knife into him.

Song Feng, poisoned by the snake venom, had no strength to resist. He gave a muffled groan, widened his eyes, and died.

Chen Jing did not slacken for even a moment. Song Feng had previously told her that once a person died, they would turn into a ghost. Thus, after stabbing him once, she exerted all her strength and severed his head. She then chopped off all four limbs and finally split open his chest, removing all his internal organs. She had no idea whether Song Feng would undergo corpse transformation, but at least he did not move.

While cutting open his chest, however, Chen Jing discovered a round token bearing the word “Death.” Her face lit up with delight.

“So that’s how it is. After a person dies, the corpse transforms, and the Death Token is hidden inside the body.”

Grinning, Chen Jing picked up the Death Token and left the room, heading straight for the first floor. There was a fifth-level evil ghost there, and she could use the token to kill it.

After putting away the two Death Tokens, Zhang Xiaofan was just about to leave when someone suddenly came rushing toward him. Taking a closer look, he realized it was Xu Xiaolong, his face covered in blood.

“Something terrible has happened! Zhou Jian has been possessed by a ghost. He’s gone mad and wants to kill Su Qianqian too,” Xu Xiaolong said, his face twisted with ferocity.

Zhang Xiaofan’s heart jolted. Supporting him, he asked, “Where? What exactly happened?”

Xu Xiaolong panted heavily. “Earlier, Zhou Jian, Su Qianqian, and I ran into Xu Daqing. We joined forces and killed him. We never expected that after he died, his corpse would transform. Fortunately, there were many of us, and we managed to kill him. We even found a Death Token on his body. But then…”

As he spoke, Xu Xiaolong’s expression filled with terror. “We never expected Zhou Jian to suddenly attack and snatch the Death Token away. Then he started beating me to death. He’s gone insane. Su Qianqian and I escaped just now, but we split up.”

Zhang Xiaofan’s pupils contracted. “Where?”

“Follow me.”

“Wait. What’s Zhou Jian like now?”

“He’s desperate to survive now. He doesn’t care about anything anymore. He wants to kill both Su Qianqian and me.”

Xu Xiaolong staggered back along the way they had come. Clutching his chest, he asked, “By the way, you took the Death Token from the person who died, didn’t you?”

Zhang Xiaofan nodded.

“Good. Then make sure you keep it safe. The Death Token is extremely powerful—the best weapon for dealing with ghosts.”

As Xu Xiaolong spoke, he descended the stairs. Suddenly, the hairs on his body stood on end.

“Oh no! That ghost is back…”

He turned and ran, shouting as he did, “That’s the ghost that was chasing me earlier! It’s a fifth-level evil ghost!”

Sure enough, at the corner, a ghost slowly emerged. Water dripped from its entire body, and its flesh was swollen and rotten from being soaked. Baring its teeth, it grinned at Zhang Xiaofan.

Zhang Xiaofan snorted coldly and threw the Death Token.

Bang!

The two of them were sent flying, while the water ghost was reduced to a heap of rotten flesh.

“The Death Token really is powerful!” Xu Xiaolong exclaimed with delight. Suddenly, his eyes flickered, and he said, “Xiaofan, the ghost’s Life Token is right there. Go get it.”

There was no need for him to remind Zhang Xiaofan. He nodded and asked, “Which way did Su Qianqian go?”

Xu Xiaolong pointed to the right.

Zhang Xiaofan walked over and dug out the Life Token. But just as he rose to his feet, a fierce gust of wind suddenly struck from behind.

“Go to hell!” Xu Xiaolong roared viciously.

At that moment, Zhang Xiaofan abruptly turned around and hurled the dagger he had prepared in advance.

Whoosh—

Xu Xiaolong’s expression changed. He suddenly slapped the dagger away with one hand, then charged forward and struck Zhang Xiaofan with his palm.

Bang!

Zhang Xiaofan was sent sprawling. Xu Xiaolong then walked over to the ghost’s corpse, took out the Life Token, and said coldly, “I finally got it. Now I can survive.”

“Xu Xiaolong, why did you have to do this?” Zhang Xiaofan covered his swollen chest and glanced at the other man’s arm. Only then did he notice the lines running across it. Apparently, Xu Xiaolong possessed some kind of mutated constitution. No wonder he had been able to catch Zhang Xiaofan’s dagger bare-handed. His defensive strength was formidable.

Xu Xiaolong said smugly, “I had no choice. There are only a few Life Tokens, and there simply aren’t enough for everyone. But your reflexes really are impressive. You actually noticed that I was attacking you.”

“To tell the truth, I suspected there was something wrong with you from the beginning. But I never expected you to be this powerful. Even the dagger I prepared couldn’t hurt you.” Zhang Xiaofan wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth.

“Hmph. As expected of one of the cleverest people in the class. Tell me, where did I give myself away? I’ll be more careful in the future.” Xu Xiaolong looked pleased with himself.

“It’s simple. When you came out, you were covered in blood. But I noticed that you didn’t have a single wound on you. In other words, that blood wasn’t yours.”

Xu Xiaolong nodded. “Didn’t you consider that it might have been Xu Daqing’s blood?”

“That’s possible, which is why I didn’t attack you at first. But later, you claimed that Zhou Jian had suddenly attacked you and Su Qianqian. That was what made me most suspicious.”

“What suspicion?”

“Zhou Jian’s shoulder was injured. How could he have ambushed you?”

“Looks like you knew he was injured.”

“Heh. He was injured when he and I dealt with Meng Fei.”

“Very good. You really are impressive. But after all this talking, you still have to die.” As Xu Xiaolong spoke, he slowly advanced. “The blow I just landed on you must still be aching, right? I didn’t hold back.”

“It was indeed powerful.” Zhang Xiaofan smiled helplessly. “I never expected you to be so strong.”

“Haha, did you think no one had a hidden trump card?”

“Exactly. Did you think no one had a hidden trump card? What I mean is, I have one too!”

The moment Zhang Xiaofan finished speaking, his expression suddenly turned grim. He threw out his final Death Token.
