Chapter 20: The Retaliation of Class 1-6
"Rat-a-tat-tat..."
"Listen up inside! You are surrounded. Drop your weapons and surrender, and we will spare your lives. Otherwise, don't blame us for being ruthless!"
In front of the white villa, a masked figure holding a submachine gun shouted. His voice carried a metallic resonance, clearly altered by a voice changer built into the mask that automatically distorted his speech.
Several other people in the same uniform crouched near him. One of them asked, "Squad leader, their firepower is quite fierce. What should we do?"
"We've already lost seven or eight classmates just like that. Damn it, this is tough to deal with."
"We can't keep going like this. Our mission is to find some kind of corpse vegetable garden. I suggest we leave just a few people to guard this place while the rest of us go look first?"
"No way, the people from Class 4, Sophomore Year are too cunning. The moment our main force leaves, they'll seize the chance to break through, and the ones left behind will just be sitting ducks," someone argued.
Li Yunfeng glared fiercely at a heavy-set guy and said, "Tai Yong, didn't you buy an RPG? Lock onto their position and blast them with a few rounds."
Tai Yong frowned and said, "I only have nine shells in total. I used four of them when we broke through the zombie horde earlier. Now I only have five left. It's just a drop in the bucket."
"Yeah, RPG shells are very expensive. We can't just waste them randomly."
After discussing for a long time, the group still hadn't reached a decision.
At that moment, Li Yunfeng tightened his grip on his submachine gun and said, "Ever watched Resident Evil? I have an idea."
"Oh? Let's hear it." The classmates grew interested.
Li Yunfeng immediately laid out his plan, and the classmates instantly became excited.
"Haha, great idea! We'll wipe out the entire Class 4, Sophomore Year."
"Hmph, let them be arrogant. It'd be best to capture that nuisance Lin Rou alive. When the time comes, our whole class is going to take turns on him."
"Haha... Excellent idea."
The male students rubbed their hands in excitement at the mere thought of Lin Rou's physique. A few female students nearby sneered, though they said nothing more. None of them were fools; with the two classes now at loggerheads, annihilating the enemy was the only path to supremacy.
Li Yunfeng assigned a few boys to carry out the plan. Meanwhile, inside the white villa, a gloomy and oppressive atmosphere prevailed.
At the very beginning of the game, a large portion of the players had been separated. Fortunately, Wang Hu and Zhang Hua had quickly used walkie-talkies to regroup a large number of people, ultimately hiding them here with plans to strike once they found Zhang Xiaofan and the others.
Never had they expected to be ambushed suddenly this morning. In an instant, three guarding classmates were riddled with bullets, and three grenades were tossed through the bedroom windows. Fortunately, the students had already woken up and were heading down the stairs to step outside, otherwise the consequences would have been unimaginable.
"Bang!"
Wang Hu slammed his fist onto the table and said angrily, "Flesh and blood can only take so much! We haven't even seen the enemy's faces, and we've already lost three classmates. I suggest we launch an immediate counterattack. My Gatling gun is not just for show!"
"No way!" Lin Rou stood up from his seat and said, "No matter how powerful your Gatling gun is, have you forgotten that the enemy has a rocket launcher?"
Wang Hu muttered gloomily, "That thing is so expensive, I doubt he has many shells left."
"Even a single shell is not something we can handle," Lin Rou shook his head.
"Does anyone here still have a working walkie-talkie?" Su Qianqian asked at that moment.
Everyone shook their heads. Chen Jing sighed and said, "A walkie-talkie that costs one hundred underworld notes really is shoddy merchandise. The batteries are completely dead after just one night."
"Sigh..."
The students let out a chorus of sighs. Who would have thought the walkie-talkies would drain batteries so fast? Lacking real-world experience—even among the few who frequently played CrossFire—none of them had anticipated that the walkie-talkies would run out of power.
After all, in traditional computer games, such trivialities never needed to be considered.
"Rustle..." At that moment, Murong Feng walked over carrying a sniper rifle and said, "Walkie-talkie? I have one."
"Yours still has power?" Wang Hu asked excitedly.
Murong Feng said expressionlessly, "I don't like buying shoddy goods. My walkie-talkie cost over a thousand underworld notes."
Everyone silently acknowledged that Murong Feng was indeed a wealthy tycoon. They had always found it strange that despite Murong Feng barely playing the game, his stash of underworld notes remained consistently high.
Without overthinking it, Wang Hu took Murong Feng's walkie-talkie, fiddled with the controls, and broadcasted: "Xiaofan, calling Xiaofan, this is Wang Hu, please respond if you copy..."
Behind a residential house on the right side of the white villa, Zhang Xiaofan slapped the shoddy walkie-talkie and cursed, "I never expected to find cheap knockoffs even on Underworld Taobao. The battery died after just one night."
Yu Li made a wry face and said, "Mine is dead too, but I have a way."
Yu Li smiled, removed the batteries from the walkie-talkie, and said, "When I was a kid, if the remote control at home ran out of batteries, I'd bite them a few times, and they'd work for quite a while longer."
With that, he bit down on the two batteries a few times and popped them back into the walkie-talkie.
"Rustle... Xiaofan, calling Xiaofan, this is Wang Hu, please respond if you copy..."
Zhang Xiaofan said happily, "Yu Li, you're a genius. Your trick actually works."
"Hurry up and reply, this charge won't last long," Yu Li urged hurriedly.
Zhang Xiaofan nodded and replied, "Wang Hu, I copy. How is your situation?"
"Three dead, five injured, everyone else safe. We're currently surrounded by a mysterious squad. The enemy has an RPG, and their firepower is very heavy," Wang Hu reported.
"I've spotted those people; they're all wearing masks. I'll initiate an attack on them shortly. You guys organize a pincer movement from the left and right flanks to annihilate them in one fell swoop."
"Order received, but they also have people stationed behind us."
The medical support team will provide rear cover from inside the villa."
Hu Xiaotian's voice came through: "Copy that!"
"Good. Move out on the sound of my gunfire. Power is low, I'm shutting off the walkie-talkie."
"Understood."
Zhang Xiaofan switched off the walkie-talkie and said, "Let's go, we'll flank them."
The two quietly crept out of the building's backyard. The area had clearly been cleared out by those people, as numerous dead zombies lay scattered haphazardly across the ground.
Crouching low, the two stopped behind a tree. Zhang Xiaofan peered out and said, "There are eighteen people over there, twelve of whom have submachine guns. Their firepower is indeed formidable."
"Let's split up. Two firing points. I'll open fire first, and while they retaliate against me, you shoot them from behind. That will definitely throw their ranks into chaos."
"Good idea."
Yu Li immediately circled around. Zhang Xiaofan clicked off his rifle's safety, peering through the scope at a figure who appeared to be the leader, since many people were gathered around him and his aura of command was prominent.
Right at that moment, a car drove over from the distance. Clearly belonging to some family in the village, the vehicle sped forward with a loudspeaker blaring.
"Beep beep..."
Seeing this, Zhang Xiaofan's pupils constricted. A massive horde of zombies was tailing closely behind the car...
