Bao Lei: It looks like everyone had a wonderful time last night. Excellent. Today, I’m taking you all on a trip—to Silent Village!

“Silent Village? Does anyone recognize that name?”

“We’re going there on a trip? Does that mean we’re being given a vacation?” one girl asked delightedly.

“You idiot. Do you really think ghosts would be kind enough to give you a vacation?” a boy cursed.

Everyone began talking over one another. At the same time, Bao Lei sent another message:

Bao Lei: It seems you’re all mistaken. But I believe that once you’ve gone there, you’ll understand why.

Remember, this game is extremely important. The winner will receive a red packet containing twenty thousand netherworld coins!

“What’s the game?”

“Going by my experience, the more netherworld coins there are, the harder the game will be,” one boy said grimly.

Bao Lei: Stop guessing wildly, everyone. Accept the red packet.

Immediately afterward, Sun Yang sent out a huge red packet worth fifty thousand netherworld coins!

The students hurried to claim their shares. By now, everyone knew that netherworld coins were crucial to each and every one of them. Used wisely, they could later purchase all kinds of powerful equipment.

Once the fifty thousand coins were divided among them, nearly everyone managed to claim more than a thousand. Many of them were overjoyed.

Bao Lei: Students, I will now explain the game.

In the eerie Silent Village, the villagers have been infected by a biochemical virus and transformed into man-eating zombies. Whether this is a natural disaster or a man-made catastrophe, no one knows.

You are now required to enter Silent Village, locate the source of the virus, and destroy it.

The mission will last three days. Exceeding the time limit will count as a failure.

The students were stunned.

The previous games had perhaps still fallen within the limits of their understanding. But this time, something straight out of Resident Evil had appeared!

“Wait… isn’t Silent Village the name of a map in CrossFire?” a student who often played the game said in horror.

“I remember now. Don’t tell me we’re actually being sent to play CrossFire?” another student said, his expression turning grim.

Bao Lei: You will depart for the map location in ten minutes. Please purchase whatever supplies you need. Once you enter the destination, the Netherworld Marketplace will be unavailable.

Zhang Xiaofan hurriedly sent Bao Lei a message: How are we supposed to deal with the zombies?

Bao Lei: With guns, of course! I suggest that everyone buy plenty of firearms before setting out. They’re available in the marketplace!

After reading the message, several boys began shouting excitedly.

“Looks like we’re going to play a real-life version of CrossFire—except this one’s the Resident Evil edition!”

“What are you so excited about? This isn’t a game. People can die.”

“What’s there to be afraid of? Just buy a gun,” a bold boy said.

The students immediately began purchasing firearms.

One student spent more than a thousand netherworld coins on an AK and said with a grin, “I’ve wanted to buy one for ages. I never expected them to sell them here too.”

A girl spent more than three hundred netherworld coins on a pistol. Her deskmate looked at it with disdain.

“That little thing won’t do. I’ll get you a submachine gun.”

Wang Hu and the others equipped themselves almost to the teeth. Having survived several games, Wang Hu had accumulated quite a number of netherworld coins, so he bought a Gatling gun without the slightest hesitation.

“Gods who stand in my way will be slain. Buddhas who stand in my way will be slaughtered!” he said coldly.

Nearly all of his subordinates bought submachine guns. After all, they had a high rate of fire and large ammunition capacity. Not only were they satisfying to fire, but their firepower was formidable as well. Even if hordes of zombies attacked them, it would be no more than sending food straight to their mouths.

Zhang Xiaofan gazed at the rows of weapons. He did not have many netherworld coins left—only a little over five thousand.

He still had to cultivate the Three-Colored Flame in the future. If he spent all his money on equipment, his cultivation would become troublesome later on.

He first spent several hundred netherworld coins on a military backpack, then bought a Nepalese kukri. The blade was versatile, powerful, and easy to carry—a fine choice.

Finally, he bought a pistol capable of firing three-round bursts. Although this type of pistol lacked power and was not particularly accurate, it had a large ammunition capacity. Zhang Xiaofan figured that if an emergency arose, he would at least be able to react immediately and open fire.

The last decision concerned his primary weapon. Zhang Xiaofan had played CrossFire in the past, and his favorite weapon back then had been a sniper rifle. He liked hiding in the shadows and killing his opponents from a distance.

But this was a real-life game, and his opponents were zombies. Without even thinking, he knew that there would certainly be an enormous number of them. A sniper rifle was therefore highly unsuitable.

He then turned his attention to the submachine-gun section, where a beautiful grenade rifle caught his eye.

The weapon was called the FAL Automatic Grenade Rifle. It held sixty rounds, came with three spare magazines, and had nine grenades loaded into its launcher.

Zhang Xiaofan raised his brows. Wasn’t this the weapon used by the Savior in CrossFire’s Savior Mode?

He remembered that in the past, players who became the Savior possessed astonishing firepower. A single Savior could keep the zombies from raising their heads. The grenade launcher in particular was practically the zombies’ natural enemy!

“This is the one.”

Zhang Xiaofan was tremendously excited as he clicked on the weapon. But when he saw the price, he was completely dumbfounded.

It cost more than ten thousand netherworld coins!

He could not afford it at all.

With no other choice, he settled for a sturdy and durable AK instead. However, he bought an upgraded version equipped with a scope. It held five additional rounds, and he also purchased five magazines and three grenades.

“Everyone should buy some medical supplies. If anyone gets hurt, we’ll need something to rely on.”

Su Qianqian was meticulous by nature. After thinking of this, she reminded the others.

The students nodded one after another, and many of them purchased clotting agents, bandages, and similar supplies.

Seeing this, Zhang Xiaofan had a sudden idea.

“How about we organize ourselves into groups? Su Qianqian, you and Lin Rou take four girls and form a medical team.”

Su Qianqian nodded and immediately selected Sun Lili, Ma Ying, and three other girls she was close to.

Zhang Xiaofan looked at them and said, “From now on, you’re the medical team. Hu Xiaotian, your main ability is fortune-telling, and your combat strength isn’t very high. You and Jiang Jiewei should find three more boys and form a medical-protection team to safeguard the medical group.”

Hu Xiaotian imitated a soldier’s stance and replied, “Yes, sir!”

Zhang Xiaofan turned to Zhang Hua and Wang Hu.

“How many people do you have under your command? Give me the numbers.”

“I have eight,” Zhang Hua said.

“I have four,” Wang Hu replied. He had originally had several dozen men, but nearly all of them had died during the previous games.

“Counting the two of you and Zhou Liping, that makes fifteen in total. You’ll be the fire-support team. Your job is to provide covering fire. Understood?” Zhang Xiaofan said.

“No problem,” Zhang Hua and Wang Hu replied simultaneously.

Zhang Xiaofan then looked toward a student named Yu Li. He had a deep impression of Yu Li because, during their last visit to the basketball court, Yu Li had revealed a winged physique that allowed him to fly.

“Yu Li, choose three people who can run fast and form a reconnaissance team. You’ll provide battlefield reconnaissance for my unit. Report immediately if anything happens!”

Yu Li nodded.

“Don’t worry.”
