“Impossible. How many students are there in your class altogether?” Li Yunfeng cried out in shock, his face drained of color.

“Exactly. You’re making this up. If something like that had happened, we would have called the police ages ago.”

“Are you insane? Dozens of people are dead, yet I can still see more than forty students in your class.”

The students of Class 1-6 shouted over one another. The people around Zhang Xiaofan looked at them with contempt.

Wang Hu called out, “Then let me ask you this: how many people in your class have died?”

“Two.” Li Yunfeng recalled the horrific condition of the two victims and answered with a trembling voice.

“Then tell me—have the police, or the victims’ parents, come here?”

The students of Class 1-6 exchanged glances.

Wang Hu sneered. “It’s simple. We’ve all been manipulated by ghosts. Even if we died right in front of other people now, they wouldn’t react at all. Our only purpose at present is to play this red-envelope game.”

Lin Rou stepped forward excitedly and said in a sweet, coquettish voice, “All right, let’s play. Once I beat you, I still need spirit money to buy things.”

As she spoke, three girls and two boys, led by Lin Rou, walked onto the field.

At that moment, a tall boy from the opposite side stepped forward.

“So losing means death, huh? What a nuisance. In that case, let’s all give it everything we’ve got. What a shame about the pretty girl over there.”

He looked at Lin Rou with an unmistakably lecherous expression.

The tall girl who had spoken earlier stepped out beside him, followed by four more boys from their side.

The group was clearly led by the tall boy. When Wang Hu saw him, his expression turned grave.

“That’s Liu Neng, the captain of the senior class basketball team.”

Soon, the two teams reached the soccer field. Zhang Xiaofan cautioned Lin Rou, “Be careful not to commit a foul. You absolutely cannot touch the ball with your hands.”

Lin Rou smiled. “Don’t worry. It’s only a ball. I can handle it.”

“I know you’re strong, but this is soccer. You’ve probably never even touched a ball before, have you?” Zhang Xiaofan scolded.

Lin Rou’s face reddened, but she stubbornly replied, “Don’t worry. I know what I’m doing.”

Zhang Xiaofan looked toward the other five players. They were Xu Ligao, Wang Jie, Chun Ying, Sun Lili, and Su Dan.

Chun Ying was the girl whose face Zhang Hua had slashed, and whom she had forbidden from applying scar-removing ointment. She now trembled as she stepped onto the field. Her disfigured face provoked intense disgust from Liu Neng and the others.

“Your class has quite a lot of freaks,” Liu Neng taunted. Then he suddenly turned toward Lin Rou. “You’re beautiful. What a pity—you’re going to die.”

Lin Rou spoke in a delicate, coquettish voice. “Couldn’t you spare me?”

Everyone in Class 2-4 knew how terrifying Lin Rou was, so they all understood that she was merely pretending. The students from the lower grade did not know that, however. Several boys whistled at her, while others shouted that she should dance for them and they might let her off later.

After all, they were not the ones playing the game, so they had nothing to fear.

“The other side has five boys,” Wang Hu murmured. “I’m afraid Lin Rou and the others will be at a disadvantage in a soccer match.”

Zhang Xiaofan nodded. He could only say to the other three girls, “Why don’t the three of you guard the goal?”

With three people guarding the goal, they would be considerably safer. As for Lin Rou and the other two boys, all three were quite fast, so Zhang Xiaofan had confidence in them.

Although their side had more girls, fortunately, they had started playing the red-envelope game earlier and therefore possessed a physical advantage. It was precisely because of that advantage that Zhang Xiaofan trusted Lin Rou and the others.

He then began explaining their tactics. There were still ten minutes before the match, and Zhang Xiaofan felt it was necessary to go over everything with them.

On the other side, Liu Neng said to the tall girl beside him, “Qin Jing, I’m fast. You and I will work together.”

Then he looked at the two burly boys and said, “You two guard the goal. Whatever happens, don’t let them score. Remember, if we lose this match, every one of us will die.”

The two boys’ faces went pale. They gritted their teeth and answered in unison, “Don’t worry.”

Liu Neng nodded and turned to the remaining two boys. “As for you two, work with us to seize the ball. Once you get it, kick it toward Qin Jing and me. Understood?”

Everyone nodded.

Time passed quickly, and a message soon appeared in the phone group.

“The soccer match begins now.”

The next moment, a soccer ball suddenly dropped from the sky. Liu Neng and Qin Jing immediately shot forward like arrows.

There was no denying that the two were athletes. Their speed was astonishingly fast—even Lin Rou could not keep up.

Liu Neng quickly reached the ball near the center line. With a light tap, he sent it past Xu Ligao’s foot. Wang Jie’s expression changed dramatically as he charged in and slid for the ball.

At that moment, he no longer cared whether he might injure himself. Compared with that, winning or losing the game was far more important.

Liu Neng let out a cold laugh. Though he was a basketball player, he had also studied soccer extensively. With a deft flick, he sent the ball bouncing over Wang Jie. He himself leaped over Wang Jie as well, then drove the ball hard toward Lin Rou’s goal.

Liu Neng stayed close behind the ball, advancing as if there were no one on the field.

Lin Rou was frantic. She had been far away from Liu Neng at the start and had failed to catch up. By the time she chased after him, she was already far behind.

“Chun, you damn idiot, guard the goal! Otherwise, I’ll scratch your face all over again!” Zhang Hua shouted furiously.

Chun Ying and the other two girls shuddered in unison, then nervously watched the approaching ball.

The ball drew closer and closer. Lin Rou and the other two boys could not possibly make it in time.

Chun Ying gritted her teeth and shouted, “I’ll stop him!”

Before she had even finished speaking, she threw herself toward Liu Neng. Because Chun Ying was running directly at him, and the other two girls were also watching him closely, Liu Neng felt a certain amount of pressure.

He glared coldly at Chun Ying, then suddenly kicked the ball with all his strength.

With a bang, the soccer ball flew straight toward Chun Ying’s face.

Chun Ying let out a muffled groan. The tremendous force sent her entire body flying, and at the same time, both of her front teeth shot out.

“Ow…”

Chun Ying crashed to the ground and clutched her mouth in agony. To her dismay, she saw that the ball had drawn even closer to the goal.

Liu Neng licked his lips and sneered. “You pathetic amateurs actually think you can play soccer against me?”

With that thought, he moved even closer to the goal.

Sun Lili and Su Dan stared at him in terror. From a distance, Jiang Jiewei shouted, “Lili, keep going!”

Sun Lili was Jiang Jiewei’s deskmate. The two had long since become boyfriend and girlfriend, so Jiang Jiewei was extremely anxious.

Sun Lili gritted her teeth and threw herself at Liu Neng. But Liu Neng easily sidestepped her clumsy charge. Then he roared, “Go to hell!”

He kicked the ball with all his strength. In an instant, it flew toward the edge of the goal where Su Dan stood.

Su Dan’s expression changed. She rushed over, and just as the ball was about to enter the goal, she suddenly wrapped both arms around it and held it tight.

“Yes!” Wang Hu leaped into the air in excitement. At the same time, many of the students from Class 2-4 also jumped up and cheered.

But then Su Dan suddenly let out a muffled groan. Panic filled her eyes as she cried out, “W-What’s happening…?”
