Chapter 10: The Struggle
Zhou Jian and Jiang Jiewei nodded heavily. Being closer to the window and seeing the opponent charging toward them, they both unleashed their most powerful attacks.
"A bunch of brats, go to hell!"
The man in the fitted outfit threw the mangled corpse he was holding straight at Zhou Jian. Zhou Jian tried to block it, but the force of the impact was so immense that he was sent flying.
The man grinned hideously and charged toward Jiang Jiewei, gathering immense energy in his hands.
Zhang Xiaofan rushed over, realizing the man clearly intended to kill Jiang Jiewei. In his desperation, Zhang Xiaofan shouted, "Jiang Jiewei, get back!"
As he spoke, he quickly reached Jiang Jiewei's side. His gaze locked onto the man, and his right eye suddenly seemed to rotate, his pitch-black pupil staring intensely at the attacker.
At that moment, the man looked as if he had witnessed something truly terrifying; his eyes widened in horror, and he froze in his tracks.
"Die!"
A student flying in the sky plunged down with a spear, piercing the man’s skull. It was almost an instant kill.
"Hoo..."
Zhang Xiaofan felt as if his mental energy had been completely drained. He stared laboriously at the corpse before him. The strength of a Fourth-Level Taoist was indeed formidable.
With Su Qianqian’s help, Zhang Xiaofan stood up and said, "Take the wounded to the classroom to recover. Zhang Hua, take your people and clean this place up. These aren't from our class, and I’m worried others might discover them."
Zhang Hua nodded and replied, "Leave it to me. I guarantee there won't be a single drop of blood left here by tomorrow morning."
Most of the students then dispersed. As for the traitors, Wang Hu took it upon himself to eliminate them. Since Wang Hu still needed to have relations with three senior girls to complete his game task, he bid farewell to Zhang Xiaofan after the matter was settled. Using his connections, he finally managed to arrange a meeting with three "little gangsters," and after paying them a sum of money, he finally completed his task.
...
The next day, Zhang Xiaofan arrived at the classroom. Several students were covered in injuries from yesterday's battle.
One student said with a bitter face, "My face is torn up like this, but when I got home last night, my parents acted like they didn't even see me. It’s so chilling; they were never like this before."
"Me too. My eyes are swollen, but my mom didn't even ask."
"My parents don't care about my grades anymore, and they don't even talk to me."
"Forget your parents, my neighbors act like they don't see me every time. I feel like I don't exist in their eyes," a girl said, trembling.
"My younger brother used to pester me to play with him, but ever since we started playing this Red Envelope Group game, it’s like he doesn't know I exist. He doesn't even respond when I talk to him."
The students chattered on without end. Zhang Xiaofan felt a heavy heart. He looked at Hu Xiaotian, who said, "I’m in the same situation. My parents don't care about me at all now, and they haven't spoken a word to me. I suspect this is all the doing of the Red Envelope Group. This group is far too powerful; it has made everyone around us seem to forget our existence without us even realizing it."
Zhang Xiaofan patted his shoulder and said, "It seems we have to rely on ourselves from now on."
Before long, Wang Hu walked in with a shaky gait. After dealing with eight girls in one go yesterday, even with his high combat prowess, he was completely exhausted. If it hadn't been for the medicine he took at the end, he likely would have died.
"Yo, Wang Hu, not bad. You've still got the strength to walk," Zhang Hua said with a chuckle, then turned to Zhou Liping and pinched him, saying, "Look at him."
Zhou Liping replied with a bitter face, "If I had the medicine, I could do it too."
"Fine, I'll buy you some next time. Three times every night, and for every time you miss, I'll give you a lash," Zhang Hua said imperiously.
"Ah..." Zhou Liping wailed in misery.
Just then, the WeChat group chimed.
*Ding!*
Bao Lei: Congratulations to student Wang Hu for completing the task. Reward: 10,000 underworld coins. As for the other students, their deaths have been detected. Sigh, what a pity. Students, take this as a warning.
Wang Hu cursed, "What a pile of crap. If you've got the guts, come out and fight me one-on-one."
Bao Lei ignored him and sent a message: Everyone, prepare to grab red envelopes.
Shortly after, Sun Yang sent a large red envelope containing a total of 10,000 yuan.
Zhang Xiaofan grabbed it immediately, receiving over 500 yuan.
*Ding!*
Bao Lei: Students whose red envelope digit ends in zero, gather at the playground.
The students looked at each other in dismay. This time, the task was actually on the playground.
Lin Rou stood up and said, "How interesting, it’s me this time."
Along with Lin Rou, three other girls and two boys also stood up.
Zhang Xiaofan walked over immediately and said in a low voice, "Let’s go, we’ll head down together."
The group marched toward the playground. The other students were eager to see what this game would be.
Su Qianqian stayed by Lin Rou's side, comforting her, "Don't be afraid, we're right here with you."
Lin Rou said, "Don't worry. I've survived so many games already, how could I be defeated so easily?"
Upon reaching the playground, everyone looked forward in surprise. They saw another class waiting there. That class was also looking at Zhang Xiaofan and his group with confusion, wondering why they had come over.
"Xiaofan, isn't that girl the one from the cafeteria yesterday? The boy with her committed suicide because he didn't finish the red envelope game," Su Qianqian said.
Zhang Xiaofan nodded and shouted from a distance, "Which class are you from? Why are you here?"
There were over sixty students on the other side, a dense crowd. It was highly unusual for them to appear here during class hours.
"We are from Class 6, Grade 1. I am the monitor, Li Yunfeng. We came here to..."
Before he could finish, everyone's phones rang simultaneously.
Bao Lei: The game rules are now announced.
Students whose digit ends in zero will play a soccer match against the students from Class 6, Grade 1 whose digit ends in zero. The rules are: no one else may join, no touching the ball with hands, the number of goals determines the winner, and the time limit is half an hour!
Failure results in a death penalty!
The game will begin in ten minutes. Students, please prepare.
Zhang Xiaofan stared blankly at the message in the group, his heart filled with shock.
He hadn't expected this match to be directed at another class; in other words, they were to compete against students from a different grade level.
At this moment, the students of Class 6, Grade 1 were also looking at their phones.
The content was identical, except that "Class 6, Grade 1" had been replaced with "Class 4, Grade 2."
"Our opponents are from Class 4, Grade 2," a tall girl stood out and said gloomily, "Xiaoli died this morning just because she didn't complete the 'sleeping with a desk-mate' game, so this penalty must be real. We have to win this game."
Li Yunfeng walked out and said to Zhang Xiaofan and the others, "If you lose the game, you know what the consequences are, right?"
Zhang Xiaofan said, "Did you guys just start playing this Red Envelope Group game in the last two days? To tell you the truth, dozens of people have already died in our class playing this game."
"Impossible. How many people are in your class?" the students from Class 6, Grade 1 retorted.
