Chapter 62: Intelligence!
…It was obvious just how powerful the man before him was.
He kept pushing himself backward with his hands, while Qian Mo steadily advanced toward him.
“Tsk, the more I look at your miserable face, the more annoyed I get. What should I do with you?” Qian Mo ran his tongue over his teeth as he spoke.
“Big brother, let’s talk this out! Please, don’t be like this—I’m scared…” Mu Lang’s face was ashen, his whole body trembling.
“Let me ask you, do you think I’m a good person?” Qian Mo smiled, but the coldness in his grin was chilling to the bone.
Mu Lang shuddered involuntarily at that smile.
“Yes, big brother, you’re a good person,” Mu Lang hastily replied.
“Since you say I’m a good person, how could I possibly kill you? Isn’t that right?” Qian Mo continued, his tone almost gentle.
Mu Lang’s heart instantly lightened at the thought that he wouldn’t be killed, but then Qian Mo went on, “I won’t kill you. But, as a good person, I’ll… send you off… to reincarnation!”
“Reincarnation? What’s that—” Before Mu Lang could finish, Qian Mo placed his hand atop his head.
“B-big brother… please don’t—!”
Bang!
With a squeeze of his hand, Qian Mo ended it in an instant—Mu Lang’s head exploded, his brains vanishing into thin air, leaving no trace behind.
“You didn’t know what reincarnation was? I suppose you do now. Too bad you won’t be coming back…” Qian Mo gazed at the spot where blood should have pooled, but now there was nothing—only the dirt and grass that had always been there.
“In your next life, be reborn with a better fate, and keep your mouth in check. Good people like me are a rare breed.” Qian Mo flexed his fingers as he spoke.
“All right, that’s enough! The show’s over—unless you want me to send you all to reincarnation too.” He swept his gaze across the onlookers.
“Let’s go—go, go, go!” The crowd scattered in terror, running as if their lives depended on it, each person fleeing faster than a ghost.
“…Am I really that frightening?” Qian Mo pondered as he watched them disappear.
“Master, look what you’ve done! All my patients are scared off!” Little Immortal Doctor voiced her complaint.
“But Master, you were amazing!” She clung to Qian Mo’s hand as she spoke.
“Of course your master is amazing. Come, since those people have run off, we’ve saved some time. Go and make your preparations—I’ll pay a visit to the Wolfhead Mercenary Group and remove future trouble.” Qian Mo waved her off.
“Okay! Be careful, Master!” Little Immortal Doctor nodded sweetly.
“What do I need to be careful of? You are the one who needs protection. Here—this is a barrier that will shield you. In times of danger, it will activate on its own. I doubt anyone in this world could break it, not even a Dou Emperor.” Qian Mo chuckled, gently tapping her forehead with a finger. A beam of light entered her mind.
“To call a Dou Emperor a child… If someone else heard you, I wonder what they’d think. You talk as if you’re a Dou Emperor yourself!” Little Immortal Doctor patted his back, feigning indignation.
“Heh, little one, your master truly is a Dou Emperor—and something even greater.” Qian Mo ruffled her hair with a laugh.
“Master, I’m not a three-year-old child!” Little Immortal Doctor wrinkled her nose in mock disdain.
“You’ll understand in time. Now, go get ready.” Qian Mo ended the conversation, not bothering to explain further. Whether or not he was a Dou Emperor, she’d find out eventually.
“Okay!” She replied and hurried into the house.
Watching her retreat, Qian Mo shook his head with a sigh. “There will be headaches to come with that girl… Oh well, no point in worrying about that now. I have business to attend to first. Wolfhead Mercenary Group, your good days are over. Blame it on your man’s foul mouth… Although, even without that, I’d have come for you all the same.”
He muttered to himself as he departed.
…
On a certain mountain—
In a grand hall, a man in a black and red robe lounged, an exquisitely beautiful woman in his arms.
“Open wide, Captain, ah—” The woman to his left held a fruit platter laden with grapes and other delicacies. She picked up a grape and brought it to the captain’s lips.
“Mmm,” the man chewed contentedly.
“How does it taste, Captain?” She threw him a coquettish glance, her hand caressing his chest.
“Delicious!” the man replied with delight.
Wolfhead’s gaze drifted to the woman’s ample bosom. A wicked grin appeared on his lips. “But compared to you, these grapes are nothing at all. You’re far tastier!”
“Captain, you’re terrible, always teasing me,” the woman pouted, feigning grievance as she playfully hit his chest.
“Hahaha! Darling, you’re so enticing like this—I can barely control myself.” Wolfhead licked his lips, laughing heartily.
“Then… Captain, don’t hold back. I’m already yours, after all…” She blushed, her shyness alluring.
“Haha, you really know me best. Since that’s the case… I won’t hold back.” Wolfhead pressed her down onto the chair, intent on having his way with her.
“Ah—Captain… be gentle with me!” The woman curled up like a frightened rabbit, waiting to be devoured by the big bad wolf.
“Don’t worry, my dear, I’ll take good care of you.” With those words, Wolfhead moved in closer.
Just as the two were enjoying themselves, a subordinate burst in, yelling, “Report! Captain, something terrible has happened!”
The pair froze, their eyes meeting the intruder’s—an awkward, expletive-worthy moment.
“Idiot! What are you doing barging in now? Ever heard of knocking?” Wolfhead roared, hurling the fruit platter at the man.
“S-sorry, Captain, I didn’t mean to intrude, but this is urgent—I had to report it immediately, not a second could be wasted. It’s just that important.” The man fell to his knees, trembling, brushing off the fruit bits clinging to him.
There was clear terror in his voice. Wolfhead’s anger had shaken him to his core, and he feared for his life.
“Captain, maybe you should hear him out. It might truly be important—something that concerns us all. Think about it, even in the past, no matter how pressing the matter, they’d always knock. For him not to this time—it must be serious.” The woman on the chair finally broke the tension.
Wolfhead thought back and realized she was right. No matter how grave the situation, they’d always announce themselves first. For that not to happen now—it must mean something truly dire had occurred.
“Fine, I’ll give you a chance. If you can’t satisfy me, you die.” Wolfhead said, pulling his woman close again, “Ah, my darling, you’re so clever.”
“Hmph, of course I am.”
“So, what is it?” Wolfhead’s gaze turned icy. If this news wasn’t good enough, his life would be forfeit.
The subordinate’s face paled, but he spoke, “Captain… Mu Lang… Young Master Mu is dead…”
