Chapter 50: Galileo? Not Impressive!

My Independent System A Faint Stranger in the Mirror 3334 words 2026-04-13 15:05:34

“Alright, stop daydreaming. Hurry up and tidy yourself up before going back to rest.” With that, Qian Mo returned to the ring.

“Yes, Master.” Xiao Yan snapped back to reality and replied.

The night passed, days rolled by, years slipped away. Xiao Yan’s days were filled with hardship, each exhaustion leaving him as battered as a dying dog.

Qian Mo’s ruthless training had forged Xiao Yan’s physique into something even more formidable, and the Great Brahma Golden Body grew more refined by the day.

Three years flickered by like the passing of time itself, all events in those years vanishing like strangers wandering past, anxious and fleeting.

In the rear mountains stood a young boy—it was Xiao Yan. The childishness he once bore three years ago was gone, replaced by maturity. Though only eight years old, the arrival of Qian Mo, that devilish mentor, had pushed him out of childhood early. What’s more, he was originally a middle-aged man who had crossed over into this world, so he adapted even faster.

Three years had passed, and Xiao Yan’s height had soared; now he stood nearly one meter seventy, if not taller.

Eight years old and already one meter seventy—what do you readers think? Tsk, tsk, tsk!

After enduring Qian Mo’s three years of hellish “abuse,” Xiao Yan’s Great Brahma Golden Body had successfully reached the lower tier of the Profound Rank, while his cultivation had reached the peak of the Ninth Stage of Dou Qi, only a small step away from becoming a Dou Practitioner.

“Yan’er, how do you feel now?” a dignified voice called out.

“Master, I can already sense the call of the Dou Practitioner. Just one more step and I’ll break through.” Xiao Yan clenched his fists, feeling the changes in his Dou Qi as he spoke.

Indeed, he could feel the Dou Qi beginning to condense into a Dou Practitioner’s core.

To break through and become a Dou Practitioner, one must condense the Dou Practitioner’s Qi Core. Without it, advancement is impossible.

“Good, as long as you can feel it. These past three years have been tough, but sweat and hard work always pay off. You began training at five, now you’re eight—three years have passed, and your cultivation has reached the peak of the Ninth Stage of Dou Qi. Now, you should rest well and adjust your state to welcome the arrival of the Dou Practitioner. This year is enough for you to break through!” Qian Mo said again.

“Yes, I understand, Teacher!” Dou Practitioner! Dou Practitioner! Dou Practitioner! Xiao Yan answered Qian Mo, his heart burning with excitement.

“Go now, take a look outside. You haven’t been back in three years. The Xiao family has changed greatly.” With those words, Qian Mo returned to the ring.

“Three years… Father, I’m back,” Xiao Yan said, gazing in the direction of the Xiao family.

Three years ago, Qian Mo had helped the Xiao family grow stronger, casually mentioning that he would take Xiao Yan away for three years of intense training. Naturally, no one objected. Afterwards, the family head and elders all absorbed and refined Qian Mo’s Qi Yuan Pills, successfully advancing to the rank of Dou King.

With the Qi Yuan Pills enhancing their cultivation speed, the Xiao family head, Xiao Zhan, had reached the fifth star of the Dou King rank, while the elders were around the third or fourth star.

Xiao Yan walked through the bustling streets.

“Have you heard? The Xiao family’s pharmacy is releasing a new medicine today called the Hemostasis Pill—just three thousand gold coins. One dose stops bleeding immediately, and wounds heal rapidly,” a passerby exclaimed to his companions.

“Oh? That’s amazing! We should check it out.” With that, the group hurried to the Xiao family’s pharmacy.

“Hemostasis Pill? Isn’t that the formula I left for the Xiao family?” Qian Mo remarked from within the ring, having overheard the passerby.

The Hemostasis Pill was one of the recipes Qian Mo had left with the Xiao family three years ago, found in the old ring of Medicine Elder. It was quite effective, and several other recipes had been left as well.

At its lowest, the Hemostasis Pill was a second-tier medicine. With perfect refinement, it could reach the third tier; if luck granted a legendary mutation, it could even become fourth-tier.

It crossed two whole ranks.

“Yan’er, go have a look,” Qian Mo instructed Xiao Yan.

“Alright.”

The Xiao family’s pharmacy was located to the west of the estate, its size comparable to pharmacies of Xiao Yan’s previous life, perhaps even larger.

“The Xiao family’s second-tier Hemostasis Pill, just three thousand gold coins! Friends passing by, come in and take a look! Buy one to keep at home for emergencies!” the shop assistant shouted at the doorway, drawing much attention.

“Hemostasis Pill? Second-tier? Only three thousand gold coins?” the crowd murmured.

“Let’s go check it out,” they agreed, nodding.

“Boss! Boss! Do you have Hemostasis Pills? Give me one—my companion was gravely injured in the Magic Beast Mountains, bleeding nonstop,” a mercenary shouted, carrying his wounded partner.

“Wow, so much blood—just how badly was he attacked?” someone remarked.

The crowd concurred, murmuring and exchanging comments.

“One Hemostasis Pill, three thousand gold coins,” said the assistant.

“Here,” the mercenary tossed over a pouch.

“Take it—it’s a Hemostasis Pill,” the assistant handed it over.

The mercenary grabbed it desperately and fed the pill to his companion.

The wounded mercenary lay on the ground, blood-soaked, wounds still bleeding.

As soon as the Hemostasis Pill was swallowed, a miracle occurred—the bleeding stopped, and the wounds began to heal.

“The blood stopped so quickly! And the wounds are healing, no scars left at all,” the crowd exclaimed in awe.

The injured man was no longer in mortal danger; he had simply fainted from blood loss and exhaustion. Aside from bloodstained clothes and puddles, he was fine.

The assistant smiled knowingly; this was precisely what he’d expected.

“Amazing! Boss, give me five—here’s fifteen thousand gold coins,” someone cried.

“I want three—here’s nine thousand gold coins.”

“I’ll take two—six thousand…”

“Twenty thousand…”

One after another, people thrust coins forward.

“No rush, no rush, one at a time,” the staff replied, collecting payment and conducting business.

“Hey, move aside! Can’t you see Young Master Jialie is here? Make way!” Jialie’s lackey shouted aggressively.

“Hurry up—it’s Jialie! I heard he’s already at the Fifth Stage of Dou Qi, and only nine years old!” The crowd scattered in fear.

“This is the Xiao family’s territory, what do you want, Jialie?” the shopkeeper demanded sharply.

“Well, well! Even a lowly shopkeeper dares speak to me? Bring out your Hemostasis Pills, hand over the recipe, or I’ll trash your pharmacy!” Jialie threatened viciously.

Though the Xiao family had five Dou Kings, they had kept this secret; hence Jialie dared to act so brazenly.

“Someone call the Xiao family guard! You want Hemostasis Pills? Dream on, Jialie!” the shopkeeper retorted.

“If that’s how it is, then die! Smash it up!” Jialie waved his hand, ordering destruction.

Bang—

A wooden stick flew toward Jialie, striking his head.

“Ah!! Who? Who dared ambush me? I’ll kill them when I find out!” Jialie spun around, roaring in fury.

“Stop barking, mad dog! Jialie? I think Jialie Dog suits you better! Hahaha!” Xiao Yan clutched his stomach, laughing aloud.

“Damn it! You little mongrel—was it you who threw the stick? Are you tired of living?” Jialie snarled venomously at Qian Mo.

“Who are you calling a mongrel?” Xiao Yan retorted.

“You!” Jialie answered directly.

“Haha! You really are a mongrel then! You admitted it yourself—what can I do?” Xiao Yan laughed again.

Jialie’s face flushed, and then he roared, “Fiery Jialie Fist!”

He lunged at Xiao Yan.

Xiao Yan stood motionless, watching the attack approach, utterly disdainful. “Is that weak punch supposed to hurt me? I’ll just stand here and let you hit me.”

“Arrogant! Courting death!” Jialie’s eyes reddened as he shouted.

Boom!

“Hahaha! Still pretending? You must be dead now!” Jialie laughed, looking at Xiao Yan who took the blow.

“Damn, he shouldn’t have been so careless—Jialie is at the Fifth Stage of Dou Qi, and only nine!” The crowd gazed at Xiao Yan, some with sympathy, others as if he were a fool.

“What are you laughing at?” A voice came from within the flames; the fire burning Xiao Yan was extinguished.

“I really don’t know what’s so funny. Jialie? So what? Here, take my punch!”

“A punch specially for fools—let’s call it the Fool-Punch!”

Before Jialie could react or defend himself, Xiao Yan had already arrived before him in a flash.

“Impossible!” Jialie cried in terror.

Bang bang bang bang—bang bang bang—

A series of blows rang out, and Jialie was sent flying by Xiao Yan’s punch.

“Tsk, tsk, tsk! That looked painful! Jialie, not so tough after all,” Xiao Yan said gleefully.

The crowd stared at Xiao Yan, mouths agape, wide enough to hold an egg.

“This is the real dark horse! Jialie’s nothing in front of him! Good thing I didn’t insult him earlier,” the crowd thought, recalling their words and feeling a blush of embarrassment.
