Chapter 112: Skill Activation Quest

Although he did not choose to enter immediately, Chen Yun was incredibly excited at the thought of being able to access the Resident Evil dungeon. He had not missed a single one of the Resident Evil movies and deeply admired the protagonist, Alice. The fact that a woman could save the world in such a scenario—setting aside the "cheat" of the virus—was a level of courage that many could never achieve.

"Chen Yun, let’s go." While Chen Yun was lost in his daydreams, A-Qi had already finished buying the headphones.

"A-Qi, you should take a taxi back on your own. I’ve got to go to the bathroom; I won’t be able to see you off." Back at the hotel garage, Chen Yun said this to A-Qi and then bolted toward the hotel guest rooms.

"..." A-Qi pouted with grievance, stomped her feet, muttered "you blockhead," and then hailed a taxi to go home.

Back in his room, Chen Yun opened his computer, intending to download and install the Resident Evil game, but the screen suddenly went black—it had crashed!

"Player Chen Yun has not mastered the Computer Usage skill and is unable to operate the computer."

What the hell!

Chen Yun was stunned. Do you need a skill just to use a computer?

Can a guy even have a good time anymore?

Chen Yun threw himself onto the bed and gritted his teeth. "Damn it, I’m never using a computer again in this lifetime!! I’m going to sleep!"

Five minutes later... "Not playing!"

Ten minutes later... "Definitely not playing!"

Chen Yun sat on the bed and opened the mini-map to search. After a while, he found a location: Computer Training Center!

The instructor lifted his head, rubbed his eyes, looked at the young man in front of him, and asked in a daze, "I'm sorry, what did you just say?"

"Oh," the instructor handed Chen Yun a list of subjects. "This is a list of all the subjects our school teaches. Which ones do you want to study?"

Chen Yun took it and saw a long list: Basic Computer Training, Introduction to Computer Science, Computer Networking, Data Structures, Object-Oriented Design and Analysis, C Programming, Operating Systems, and Computer Organization and Architecture. There were quite a few. Chen Yun waved his hand grandly: "I'll take them all!"

The instructor was overjoyed; this was a big client. Completing the entire course would cost three gold coins!

"Alright, pay the fees first. It’s three gold coins in total. Starting tomorrow, I’ll teach you the introductory knowledge, and I guarantee you’ll learn everything within six months," the instructor said.

"Six months?" Chen Yun shook his head upon hearing this. "That’s too slow. Is there a crash course?"

"A crash course?" The instructor was taken aback. "No, this is already the fastest way."

"That won't work. I don't have six months to waste on this." Chen Yun shook his head. "How about this: you read each book through once, and I should be able to learn it."

"What?" The instructor was dumbfounded. "You'll learn it just by me reading it once?"

"Yes, I'll learn it as soon as you read it once," Chen Yun said earnestly.

"Damn, he’s an idiot. And here I was, greeting him so enthusiastically. Get out! Get out of here!" The instructor was furious. Was this kid playing a prank on him? Who could learn something just by hearing it once? If such a thing were possible, what would be the point of schools or teachers?

Chen Yun didn't feel like arguing. He simply pulled out ten gold coins and slapped them on the desk.

The instructor paused, looking at the genuine ten gold coins on the table, and asked, "What is this?"

"As long as you read through each type of book once, this money is yours. Do we have a deal?" Chen Yun stared at the instructor.

"What?" The instructor's jaw nearly hit the floor. "You'll give me ten gold coins just to read a few books? Are you sick?"

"Just pretend I'm sick. I’m asking you, will you read or not? Do you want the money?" Chen Yun picked up the coins. "If you won't, I’ll go to another place."

"I'll read! I'll read!" The instructor was ecstatic. Earning ten gold coins just for reading was more than his salary for several years. Only a fool would turn down such an offer.

"First book, Basic Computer Training..." The instructor picked up the first book and began to read.

"NPC Level 3 Junior Computer Master Tian Miaomiao is teaching Player Chen Yun the 'Junior Computer Basic Training' skill. Do you wish to learn?"

Chen Yun was startled. Why was it so fast this time? When he learned to drive, the prompt only appeared after the instructor finished talking. Why did it appear after the very first sentence this time?

"Is the kid a lunatic?" The instructor grew angry, pointing at Chen Yun and cursing: "You dare to mess with me? See if I don't beat you until you can't... wait, what?"

"Read the name of each book, one gold coin each. Do we have a deal? This is much easier than reading the whole book," Chen Yun said, tossing another ten gold coins on the table.

"Deal, I'll do it!" The instructor felt like he had won the lottery. Earning one gold coin just to read a book title—damn, this idiot was too adorable!

"Player Chen Yun has learned all junior computer skills. Complete the activation quest issued by the Junior Computer Master to activate the Computer skill."

After the instructor finished reading the ten titles, Chen Yun received a system prompt.

Chen Yun was stunned. How did learning a skill turn into a quest?

"Here are five gold coins." Chen Yun pulled out five more and slapped them on the table. The instructor, who was happily looking at the ten gold coins in his hand, saw the "idiot" pull out five more and asked curiously, "What is this for...?"

"You need to issue me a skill activation quest. Once I complete it, these five gold coins are yours," Chen Yun said solemnly.

A skill activation quest? The instructor felt dizzy. Was this kid crazy from playing too many games? A skill activation quest... and "once I complete it"... good grief!

"Of course, don't make the quest too hard. If it's too hard, I won't be able to finish it, and you won't get the money," Chen Yun added after a moment of thought.

"It's not hard, it's not hard," the instructor said, desperate for the money. "An activation quest, right? I'll ask you a question. If you get it right, does that count as completing the quest?"
