Chapter Fifty-Nine: The Colossal Beast, Yuan Feng
Leaping down from the tree, Tianming drew a sharp breath as he gazed at the enormous wolf before him, its body nearly three or four times his own size. He hadn’t gotten a clear look during his escape, but now he realized just how massive the Windgray Wolf King truly was. Tianming himself stood over two meters tall, outstanding even among his peers, yet this beast dwarfed him.
“Senior, may I ask how you wish to be addressed?” Tianming inquired.
For an ancient beast of the Spirit Silence Realm, such respect was only proper. Even though he knew little, Tianming understood that creatures of the primal beast race had to exert three or four times the effort humans did to cultivate higher realms—sometimes even more. First, they must awaken their intelligence and take on a human form; otherwise, a primal beast would remain forever barred from the threshold of immortality.
But those were matters for another time.
“I dare not, my name is Yuanfeng. You may call me Little Wind, as my master does,” the Windgray Wolf King replied with a shake of his head.
Seeing Qingpo—its master—so accommodating toward this human had quite startled Yuanfeng. Earlier, it had been on the verge of killing Tianming, and if Qingpo hadn’t revealed himself, Yuanfeng would have been at a loss for how things might have ended.
Master?
“Who is your master?” Tianming asked, curiosity piqued.
As soon as the words left his lips, Tianming felt a sense of confusion. The Windgray Wolf King actually had a master? How powerful must one be to have such a formidable pet? After all, the Windgray Wolf King was a Spirit Silence Realm beast, just beneath the rank of Golden Immortal. He dared not imagine further.
“The one who appeared just now—that’s my master,” Yuanfeng replied, nodding.
“Haha… Interesting. Who would’ve thought that Qingpo had a Spirit Silence Realm pet?” Tianming laughed in surprise.
If he managed to pass these ten trials, not only would Qingpo have to recognize him as master, but even this ancient beast Yuanfeng would have to obey him. How delightful!
“Right, Little Wind, you must have other matters to attend to. I won’t keep you. Go about your business,” Tianming said, quickly thinking ahead.
He hadn’t even cleared the tenth trial and already planned to give orders!
“Then… I shall take my leave. If you need anything, just command me,” Yuanfeng said, hesitating slightly before bowing respectfully.
With that, Yuanfeng transformed into a streak of black light and vanished before Tianming.
“Not bad,” Tianming said with a satisfied smile, though his expression soon grew serious.
He wondered if Chu Qingchen had noticed he hadn’t followed. Yet, thinking of his elder brother’s Void Spirit Tenth Rank, Tianming shook his head silently. Among the inner disciples, few could defeat him.
With that, Tianming found a random spot and sat down cross-legged, abandoning the idea of searching for Chu Qingchen.
---
He entered the depths of his mind, arriving at the lottery page.
Name: Tianming.
Origin Stones: Zero. Note: From this moment, besides Origin Stones, other currencies cannot be exchanged for lottery draws.
Realm: Foundation Ninth Rank (needs 8,096 experience points to advance).
Origin Skills: None.
Origin Arts: Infinite.
Lottery Chances: One.
Artifacts: Two bottles of Itchy Fleas, Bamboo Dragonfly (cooling, ten minutes flight time, one use triggers seven-day cooldown, six days remaining), Lightning Sword (seven-day limit, six days left).
Ultimate Move: “If I do not enter hell, who will?” (Once used, a celestial being will reduce the user’s realm by six minor levels; can summon great divine power.)
“Omnipotent Dora, I should still have one draw left, right? Let me try my luck,” Tianming said after a moment’s contemplation, unable to hide his resignation.
Seeing the new ultimate move added, Tianming felt both surprised and somewhat distressed. Had his realm not dropped, he could have settled Suo Yuansheng with a single sword earlier; why bother with such trouble? Moreover, with his Empty Serenity Fifth Rank, eliminating anyone would be just a sword’s work. He’d have crowds eager to curry favor with him—what a blissful thought. Alas, reality was cruel.
“Yes, Master!”
Moments later, the mechanical voice sounded again, and the wheel began to spin slowly.
Clang, clang, clang!
The festive chimes faded as the golden pointer came to a stop.
“Congratulations, Master! You have obtained the ‘Guide Machine.’ Function: When confused or lost, use it, and it will drop a sign to direct your way. The guidance may be good or bad; it could lead to a dead end or a treasure land. Use with caution! Usage limit: three times.”
Tianming…
As Omnipotent Dora’s words fell, Tianming felt helpless. What kind of artifact was this? Too unreliable. What did “dead end” mean? What was “treasure land”? This seemed far too haphazard.
“Forget it, I have nothing else to do anyway,” Tianming muttered, shaking his head.
For now, he might as well make use of this tool. If it led him to a land brimming with opportunity, then this lottery wouldn’t have been wasted.
---
With this in mind, Tianming quickly got up and retrieved the Guide Machine from his dimensional space.
As he took it out, Tianming was stunned—the artifact had four wheels!
“My god, isn’t this a bus? Is there actually a driver?” Tianming froze, feeling a surge of emotion.
He never expected, in this world of cultivation, to see a piece of high-tech from Earth. It was almost unimaginable. He hadn’t seen a car in ages, nearly forgetting what one looked like.
Beep beep beep!
Just then, a bright and piercing horn sounded, as if to snap Tianming out of his daze.
“Welcome, Master!”
Tianming hurried over, and as he approached, the Guide Machine seemed to recognize him. Its high-tech door swung open instantly, accompanied by a sweet voice.
“…My god, there really is a driver, and it’s a woman! Amazing!” Tianming muttered, surprised.
But he doubted it was a real person—most likely an autopilot AI.
Marveling inwardly, Tianming stepped into the bus.
Hiss!
When he saw the interior, Tianming couldn’t help but gasp. The inside was extravagantly luxurious: clean, gleaming floors inlaid with gold and jade, and a faint, refreshing scent wafted constantly toward him. The rows of empty seats tempted him to lie down and lose himself…
But the familiarity of the setting brought a strange sense of alienation. It was eerily quiet—the rows of vacant seats, the stillness, made his heart uneasy.
There wasn’t a single soul in the entire bus.
If creepy music started playing, Tianming might leap out instantly.
“Welcome aboard this flight. Estimated travel time: one minute.”
Shortly after Tianming sat down, the sweet voice sounded once more…
