Chapter Two: The All-Purpose Dora
The sky was just beginning to lighten, with a pale streak on the horizon, and Tianming, unable to repress his excitement, leapt straight from his bed to the floor. Honestly, the feeling was akin to winning the lottery—perhaps even more exhilarating—so much so that he barely slept all night.
After washing up and tidying his clothes, Tianming wore a black linen outfit that day, his dark, glossy hair falling in bangs, looking every bit the young gentleman. Though not quite as handsome as a celebrity, he was undeniably charming.
Tianming muttered to himself, “Which line of work should I start with to make money?” Now that he was truly versatile, a new problem arose: being too talented had its own annoyances, specifically, not knowing which of his abilities stood out the most.
Dora suddenly interjected, “Tianming, you could try being a beggar. Maybe you'd catch the eye of some wealthy patron!”
“Get lost! Go play elsewhere!” Tianming waved his hand with a look of disdain. As expected, he could only rely on himself; others could never be trusted.
He burst out laughing, “Ah! There’s even a novel protagonist in that world named Tianming, just like me—‘The Moon of Qin Dynasty’.” Perhaps due to the parallel world, the memories he had absorbed didn’t quite match those of his current world. Here, technology was prioritized, while entertainment reigned supreme in the other.
With a wave of his hand, a virtual screen appeared before him—a more advanced version of what he recalled as a smartphone. The content was invisible to others unless he chose to share it.
Tianming said, “007, activate smart voice mode.”
“Ding,” replied 007.
“Open the 17k novel app and publish a novel.”
“Received.”
Pen name: Tianming. Title: ‘The Moon of Qin Dynasty’. Genre: Martial Arts.
“Confirm,” Tianming said.
Four hours later…
“007: 2.37 million yuan has been credited…”
In this high-tech era, Tianming directly sold all rights to his book, not wanting to wait long. By some stroke of luck or perhaps fate, the money he received was just enough to boost all three of his attributes to three hundred, not a penny left over.
A golden light flashed over Tianming’s body; muscles erupted instantly, clothes tore apart, and his height soared to nearly two meters, almost reaching the ceiling.
Crack! Crack!
Swinging his fists, the sound of tendons and bones slicing through the air echoed as tons of power gathered in his hands. Tianming felt his strength surge; if an elephant appeared now, he could wrestle it bare-handed.
“Clang, clang, clang…”
“Congratulations, Tianming, you have completed the first task. The protagonist’s aura is bestowed upon you, along with the grand destiny of Huaxia. Justice fills your heart, and the world reveres you as a god!”
To establish the heart of heaven and earth,
To secure the fate of the people,
To pursue greatness and far-reaching cultivation,
To open peace for all ages.
“Clang… Tianming, are you ready to enter the Era of Hongmeng?”
“Do I have a choice?” Tianming asked curiously.
After a long-winded explanation he barely understood, he could only hazard a guess: this must be the legendary ‘dream of a tiger after a rough meal’, actually rather simple.
“No!” As soon as he finished speaking, Dora’s stern voice thundered in his mind, making Tianming’s scalp tingle.
“Then why bother asking me…”
Tianming felt helpless.
Soon, a colossal portal, five meters tall, appeared before Tianming…
Visible to the naked eye, the majestic gate displayed a panoramic view of a dazzling universe composed of myriad galaxies. According to his knowledge of star systems, they were densely distributed everywhere.
Local Group ⊆ Virgo Supercluster ⊆ Laniakea Supercluster ⊆ Pisces–Cetus Supercluster Complex ⊆ Hercules–Corona Borealis Great Wall.
Each galaxy varied in size, each unique, containing countless worlds and living beings.
“The First Universe: Cambrian?”
“Whoa!” Tianming’s gaze was immediately drawn to the eight golden characters at the very top, his face filled with amazement.
“Tenth Universe. Our universe is the First Universe—not because it’s ranked first, but simply because it is the oldest.”
“And the Era of Hongmeng is the Second Universe—the destination of this portal. But before you go, Tianming, you must select a suitable planet; otherwise, in the vacuum of space, you’ll die for certain.”
Listening to Dora’s explanation, Tianming was thoroughly confused.
“How do I choose?” After pondering for a moment, he asked in his mind.
With so many options, Tianming decided to consult Dora.
“Random selection.”
Such a straightforward answer lit up Tianming’s eyes.
“Dora, you’re ruthless. If I could see you, I’d have punched you long ago, humph.” Clenching his fist, Tianming spoke fiercely.
“I love how annoyed you are but can’t do anything to me,” Dora replied with a chuckle.
Tianming truly had no words left.
Fed up with this troublemaker, a flash of light enveloped him, and Tianming stepped into the portal, heading toward an unknown planet…
Ding: All items not belonging to the Second Universe have been removed.
Suddenly, a quiet voice sounded in his mind.
……
Second Universe, Era of Hongmeng.
Divine Star.
A dark silhouette fell from the azure sky, plummeting at such speed it was impossible to track.
Splash!
On a crystal-clear sea, where the water mirrored the cloudless sky, a massive splash erupted, the sharp sound scattering countless fish and seabirds.
As the shadow struck the blue surface—
Bang!
Monstrous fish, each over ten meters long, leapt and rolled, while gigantic birds, vast enough to blot out the sky, displayed their majesty both in water and air, like rulers of an ancient world.
“Damn, lucky I strengthened my body, or that impact alone would have knocked me out,” Tianming complained, feeling the pain in his flesh.
Thanks to his enhanced abilities, he managed to stay afloat; otherwise, he would have drowned.
“Random teleportation,” Dora explained again, perhaps anticipating Tianming’s colorful language.
“Get lost! All you ever do is trick me!” Tianming snapped.
Curious, Tianming surveyed his surroundings.
Here, it was nothing but endless sea—except for those imposing, enormous creatures. Confirming with his eyes, these were not beings to provoke.
He took a deep breath, steadying his nerves, and floated on the surface, disheveled and soaked, looking every bit like a castaway.
Was he about to embark on a survival adventure? Luckily, he’d seen plenty.
After wandering unrestrainedly, Tianming finally found a deserted island.
Just as he stepped barefoot onto the eagerly awaited sandy shore, a four-winged bird, nearly the size of a building, swooped toward him at ten meters per second.
With four claws poised to strike, its menacing presence was anything but friendly.
“Cheep! Cheep!” Perhaps sensing an easy target, the four-winged bird showed no sign of retreat. After a few intimidating cries, it dove straight for Tianming.
Judging by its aggression, if it didn’t leave a hole in him, it would be considered merciful.
“Hmph, stupid bird! Daring to underestimate me—taste my Righteous Turtle Fist!”
This time, it had chosen the wrong opponent. If it had been yesterday, perhaps Tianming would’ve been in trouble. But after Dora’s attribute boost, dealing with a dumb bird was nothing—one leap and a heavy hook punch.
Boom!
With sharp eyes, Tianming struck its weak spot, landing a blow squarely on its cheeks, sending the creature flying two or three kilometers away.
“Victory!”
Dora announced, “Congratulations, Tianming, on slaying a Level 1 beast. You gain ten experience points. Realm: First-Class Martial Warrior (10–100).”
“Hey, you over there—look this way!”
Suddenly, a gigantic, luxurious wooden ship approached from the distant sea. At its prow, several shadows could be seen.
A solitary sail fades into the azure sky; only Tianming remains, on the verge of tears.
