Heavenly Court.

Fuxi walked out of the Palace of the Emperor with Houtu at his side and arrived at an unusual place in the celestial realm. From here, one could faintly glimpse the scenery of the world below.

"Now that the Wu and the Human clans have begun to merge, you can rest assured, can't you?"

The two stood shoulder to shoulder, gazing down at the myriad forms of life below. Occasionally, Fuxi glanced at Houtu, speaking softly.

"Yes." Houtu leaned against Fuxi, nodding gently, but as her gaze swept across the human tribes below, a shadow of worry crept into her heart.

"Although the number of Wu people is growing, the differences between them and ordinary humans are becoming ever more pronounced. Where the Wu reside, their customs grow increasingly fierce, and their attitude toward other tribes grows more domineering... I fear a great war is inevitable."

"Don't worry. With the Heavenly Court above, such a calamity will not befall them." Fuxi smiled reassuringly.

Houtu nodded and allowed herself to be embraced by Fuxi.

"Diting, why aren't you guarding the Hall of Supreme Harmony? What brings you here?"

Just as Fuxi was enjoying this rare moment of warmth with Houtu, he suddenly noticed Diting flying toward them from afar. Fuxi frowned, his voice low and stern.

"Greetings, Emperor Fuxi, Empress Houtu."

Startled by the question, Diting hurriedly landed before Fuxi and Houtu, bowing with utmost respect. In his heart, he regretted his intrusion, never imagining he would disturb the Emperor and Empress at such a moment... Had he known, he would have sought out the Primordial Emperor instead.

What should he do now?

Would offending Fuxi bring punishment? Might he be banished to some desolate land?

"Let us hear what brings him here first," Houtu said gently, stepping out of Fuxi's embrace and glancing at Diting, relieving him with her words.

Fuxi nodded and turned to Diting. "Speak. What is it?"

Diting quickly gathered himself, recalling his purpose, and told them everything he had heard without delay.

"Why would Gonggong fight the Dragon Kings of the Four Seas?" Houtu frowned deeply. Both the Wu and Dragon clans served under the Heavenly Court and had always kept to themselves. How could a battle break out so suddenly?

"It seems... the Dragon Kings killed Hou Yi," Diting answered, uncertain, for his knowledge was incomplete.

---

Though his innate powers allowed him to hear every sound in the Great Wilderness, the sheer volume of information was staggering. Even with ten heads, he could never remember everything he heard.

"You say Hou Yi was slain by the Dragon Kings?" Houtu's brow furrowed further. She knew Hou Yi well—among all the great Wu, he was steady and mild-tempered.

If someone like Chiyou, known for causing trouble and his volatile temper, had angered the East Sea Dragon King and been slain, she might accept it. But Hou Yi? She could not believe he would provoke the Dragon Kings.

Yet why would the Dragon Kings kill Hou Yi without cause?

"This is absolutely true..." Diting replied nervously. He vaguely recalled there might be more to the story, but for the moment, he could not remember what.

"Perhaps I should descend and investigate," Fuxi murmured after a moment's thought.

Houtu looked at Fuxi, considered briefly, then nodded. Her heart was always tied to the affairs of the Wu, but with Fuxi acting, her worries eased.

"Be careful. Try to dissuade them if you can."

"Don't worry," Fuxi said, smiling. He mounted a cloud and flew down toward the mortal realm.

Houtu watched his departing figure and felt at ease. She never feared for Fuxi's safety; after all, the entire Great Wilderness was now under the Heavenly Court's domain. No one would dare defy the Emperor, as proven countless years ago by the example of the Receiver.

Moreover, Fuxi himself was a mid-stage quasi-saint, protected by multiple spiritual treasures, among the rarest peak combatants in the Great Wilderness. Unless a Sage intervened, he could retreat unharmed from any foe.

...

Meanwhile, the Dragon Kings of the Four Seas and Gonggong remained locked in fierce battle.

Endless waves roared, as if cheering for these gigantic beings. The sky was shrouded in dark clouds—thunder, lightning, and countless magical powers raged across the boundless seas, scattering in all directions. Innumerable aquatic creatures suffered, their fate too tragic to bear witness.

"Die!"

Gonggong shouted, unleashing his divine power to conjure a massive white sphere of light before him.

Gonggong, with the body of a man and the head of a serpent, stood tens of thousands of feet tall. The enormous sphere before him radiated terrifying power, warping heaven and earth.

"The Dragon clan is not weaker than the Wu!" Ao Guang, the Dragon King, roared.

He and the other three Dragon Kings joined forces, each spewing a beam of colored light—red, yellow, blue, and green. The beams intertwined, forming a huge black sphere, its power equal to Gonggong's.

---

"Die!"

"Kill!"

Both Gonggong and the Four Dragon Kings shouted as they hurled their spheres at each other. Lightning flashed, thunder roared, and the world trembled.

Boom!

The black and white spheres—utterly distinct, yet equally terrifying—collided, unleashing a massive explosion of energy amid a series of deafening blasts.

Instantly, the surrounding sea for a million miles was engulfed in destructive power. Waves surged, carrying immense energy outward, drowning countless islands along the way. Even the coastal human tribes of the East Sea suffered grievous losses.

"Gonggong, neither of us can defeat the other. Let us end this now."

The Four Dragon Kings retreated, shifting to human form. All appeared pale, clearly drained by the exchange.

"You have slain a great Wu—your death is certain!" Gonggong, though equally exhausted, was more enraged than ever.

These little eels had forced him, a progenitor Wu, to such extremes!

At this moment, Gonggong's mind held only a single thought: to kill these eels before him!

Red light flashed in his eyes, his body expanded rapidly, and he moved toward the Dragon Kings.

"Not good!"

The Dragon Kings sensed Gonggong's intention and their faces changed in horror. They unleashed their powers frantically, fleeing in all directions.

Madman! Madman! All Wu are madmen!

Never in their wildest dreams had they imagined that Gonggong would threaten self-destruction at a mere disagreement!

"Gonggong, don't!"

At the critical moment, Fuxi arrived from afar. Sensing Gonggong's intention, his expression changed and he shouted, rushing forward to intervene.

Gonggong heard Fuxi's voice and regained a shred of sanity. Turning, he saw Fuxi speeding toward him in alarm.

But his body had already begun to explode—beyond his ability to halt.
