Chapter Sixty-Three: The Will to Kill
The conversation between Sui Ren and Dafeng in the Heavenly Court was heard word for word by Li Tian. At this moment, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of confusion. What kind of spiritual medicine could possibly tempt Sui Ren so greatly, making him willing to lend out most of the Human Tribe's current fighting force? One must know that without those five hundred Great Golden Immortals, even the survival of the tribe would be threatened.
Immediately, Li Tian extended his divine sense, investigating Dafeng’s entire body, inside and out, as well as all his storage treasures. Unfortunately, he found nothing that resembled a spiritual medicine.
"Could it be he hasn’t refined it yet?" Li Tian frowned and settled in to continue observing.
“Sui Ren, it’s not that I don’t want to give it to you, but the process for making this spiritual medicine is incredibly complicated. Even if I told you, you wouldn’t be able to refine it,” Dafeng said sincerely.
Sui Ren lowered his head in contemplation. “This is a matter of great importance. I must discuss it with You Chao and Zi Yi first.”
Though his heart already leaned toward agreement, it was a matter concerning the tribe, and he could not decide alone.
“That’s only proper,” Dafeng nodded. He didn’t worry the tribe would reject his terms; even if they did, he had other valuable things to offer as bargaining chips.
Soon, You Chao and Zi Yi were summoned. After Sui Ren explained the situation, both were clearly moved. After a brief discussion, they resolved to agree.
Everything seemed to be progressing exactly as Dafeng had anticipated.
Ninety-three years later, with the efforts of Dafeng and over five hundred Human Tribe Great Golden Immortals, more than a million Imperial Palaces rose in the gathering places of the major Demon Tribes. The number was still increasing by the moment.
Without question, Dafeng had once again exceeded the task.
Upon hearing this, Li Tian kept his word, receiving Dafeng in the Lingxiao Palace and, before all the court, granted him the title Lord of the Wind. Li Tian praised him lavishly, acting as if he greatly valued Dafeng.
Of course, this was merely a facade. In truth, Li Tian had grown highly wary of Dafeng, for he seemed to have made a remarkable deduction he had yet to confirm.
Praised so publicly, Dafeng appeared extremely excited and grateful, bowing repeatedly to Li Tian in the Lingxiao Palace.
After leaving the palace, monitored by Li Tian’s divine sense, Dafeng took a tour of the Lord of the Wind’s residence, then departed the Heavenly Court, flying toward the Human Tribe.
Li Tian perked up, eager to see where Dafeng would produce this so-called spiritual medicine.
“Sui Ren, my brother.”
Upon arriving in the tribe, Dafeng found Sui Ren and approached with a bright smile.
“Congratulations, Dafeng, on your promotion to Lord of the Wind,” Sui Ren offered his congratulations, though his gaze lingered on Dafeng, clearly impatient to receive the ‘spiritual medicine.’
Seeing Sui Ren’s eagerness, Dafeng couldn’t help but laugh, then slowly took out a nondescript silver metal bracelet from his storage treasure.
“Sui Ren, my brother, inside this are ten thousand boxes of the spiritual medicine I gave you last time. It should last you for a while.”
He didn’t hand over too much at once, subtly aiming to control the tribe’s lifeline.
“Is it true…” Sui Ren, suspecting nothing, accepted it with excitement, immediately probing it with his divine sense.
Simultaneously, Li Tian examined the silver bracelet carefully with his divine sense.
What he saw startled him. The seemingly mundane bracelet, devoid of any spiritual energy, concealed a small space within, crafted with extraordinary skill. This was utterly unlike any storage treasure—it was an artifact of technology!
Li Tian instantly searched Dafeng’s storage treasure for other similar metal bracelets.
He had searched Dafeng’s treasures before, but hadn’t paid much attention to those items without spiritual energy. Now, focusing, he soon found seven or eight more similar bracelets and one ring resembling a bracelet.
Probing the spaces within, Li Tian immediately understood their contents. The bracelets contained crates of supplies, mostly medicine. The ring, meanwhile, held items unique to the technological world, most of which Li Tian had never seen, though he could guess at their purposes.
One item resembled a sports car, but unlike any vehicle on Earth—in Li Tian’s judgment, it likely had flight capabilities.
A transmigrator, lucky enough to acquire technological artifacts?
Li Tian’s eyes flashed with killing intent. Regardless of what Dafeng was, such an unpredictable existence could not be allowed to remain. Though Dafeng was, to him, little more than an ant, who could know what the future held? Even if there was only a one-in-ten-thousand chance, he could not risk it.
When Dafeng left the tribe, Li Tian immediately cast a spell to conceal Heaven’s secrets. He had used this method many times and was quite adept; each time he’d managed to avoid detection by Nuwa, which reassured him.
At that moment, Dafeng was returning to the Heavenly Court, everything proceeding as he had hoped, leaving him in high spirits.
But as he flew, he suddenly felt a strong sense of dread. Focusing, he saw a majestic figure descending before him.
It was Li Tian.
Dafeng’s heart raced, not understanding why the Heavenly Emperor had suddenly sought him out. Still, he put on a smile and bowed in greeting.
“I didn’t realize the Heavenly Emperor was coming. Please forgive my lack of welcome,” Dafeng said.
Li Tian looked at him coolly, wasting no words and asked bluntly, “Are you a transmigrator?”
Dafeng froze, his heart sinking as cold sweat broke out uncontrollably. Still, he managed to keep his composure, his expression unchanged.
“I… don’t understand what the Heavenly Emperor means…”
Li Tian watched Dafeng’s reaction, and seeing his guilt, understood instantly.
In a flash, countless thoughts crossed Li Tian’s mind. He considered controlling Dafeng for his own purposes, but influenced by countless novels he’d read in his previous life, murderous intent won out.
Li Tian narrowed his eyes, resolving to eliminate him.
After all, an unpredictable individual wandering under his nose was simply too troublesome.
Swiftly, Li Tian extended a finger, channeling a ripple of Heaven’s power…
“No, please don’t!”
Feeling the overwhelming pressure contained in that finger, Dafeng’s eyes widened. He wanted to explain, to prove his worth, even to pledge total loyalty—anything to save his life.
But Li Tian’s will to kill was fixed, and he wouldn’t listen to any pleas. In an instant, his finger reached Dafeng.
Dafeng’s eyes were wide, but he had no time to react as his consciousness vanished, soul destroyed.
After all, beneath a sage, all are as ants—this was no idle saying.
On the far shore of the endless chaotic star river, a young man in black robes was seated in meditation within a secret chamber, surrounded by faint black currents, exuding a sinister and unsettling aura.
At a certain moment, the young man opened his eyes, a sharp glint flashing within.
“Dead—or someone erased my soul imprint?”
