Chapter 137: Breaking Open

Shen Yu cultivated both swordsmanship and Dao simultaneously, always preferring to resolve matters with a single strike. At this moment, his sword moved with such incredible speed that nearly everyone present failed to react in time. The sound of the sword cutting through the air roared like a mighty dragon emerging across the sky. Those familiar with Shen Yu knew that he rarely, if ever, showed much emotion. Yet now, his actions seemed unusually intense. Everything happened in an instant. Shen Yu followed the sword’s path, and the creature resembling a jellyfish was instantly cleaved in midair. Strangely, the black mist that had emerged from the ghostly entity began drifting away into the distance.
“Stop it,” Shen Yu said calmly, standing on the collapsed ground. His tone was still composed, but his words came quickly, signaling urgency. Boom! Several powerful auras charged forward. Everyone present, regardless of their skill or temperament, sensed the gravity of the situation. Though uncertain of the details, they knew trouble was brewing and decisively took action. Two elderly women beside the Yaochi Sovereign transformed into gusts of wind, rushing after the black mist with numerous disciples following close behind. Ling Hua immediately returned to the Glowing Gate upon the arrival of the Yaochi group. The Yaochi Sovereign gazed into the distance, her eyes filled with puzzlement—most of all, questions about Shen Yu. Why had he appeared here? How had he entered the tomb of Immortal Ling Hua? Most intriguingly, how did he seem to know so much?
“What exactly is that?” The Sovereign slightly turned her head, suddenly stunned. Shen Yu had disappeared from the spot without a trace.
...
Inside the tomb of Immortal Ling Hua. Shen Yu returned here immediately after failing to land a strike. He frowned as he stared at the nightmare spirit, suppressed here for over three thousand years, now unusually silent. The atmosphere felt heavy. Soon, an ugly childlike face with blue skin and fangs emerged from the black mist. It spoke timidly, “What are you staring at?” Shen Yu said nothing. Immortal Ling Hua floated midair and asked, “What is going on?” Shen Yu replied, “I have only just come to understand.” “The ghost appeared three thousand years ago due to absorbing the world’s filth and malign energy, causing a mutation. But that malign energy and filth were actually the origin of the nightmare’s spirit.”

Shen Yu spoke calmly: “When this creature was suppressed by Yaochi, it spat out the origin of its spirit and quietly transferred it to the Wuwang Sea, only to be swallowed by that jellyfish.” He looked at the thing hidden within the black mist and said, “Isn’t that right?” A brief silence followed. Then an enraged roar came from the black mist: “It’s all that damned jellyfish’s fault, swallowing my original ghost energy! I had an understanding with Yaochi, but now I’ve been trapped here for thousands of years. If not for that, I would have had enough time to cultivate a second true body. It’s infuriating! Once I’m free, I’ll slaughter every sea beast in the Wuwang Sea.” Shen Yu replied coldly, “You’re no different from it.” “Nonsense! I’m far nobler than those lowly creatures.” Immortal Ling Hua watched silently, her form beginning to grow ethereal. As only a fragment of a soul, she had healed Shen Yu’s injuries and forcibly eliminated the ghost spirit, leaving her with little spirit power remaining. She said, “It’s all a conspiracy of the Qianchuan region.” Shen Yu said, “We cannot allow the origin ghost energy to merge back into the nightmare spirit.” Ling Hua’s expression remained unchanged as she softly said, “This is after all Yaochi’s sacred ground, guarded by me and generations of my junior sisters. No matter who they are, including those from Qianchuan, it’s extremely difficult to enter.” Shen Yu suddenly asked, “What about its physical body?” Ling Hua thought for a moment, unsure: “I sense the formation weakened, as if the seal is being reconstructed.” “I recall the Yaochi Sovereign just came here.” Shen Yu frowned, “So who is maintaining the formation now?” Ling Hua closed her eyes, seemingly sensing something. After a moment, she said, “It seems to be that disciple who was severely wounded by the Qianchuan assassins.” Shen Yu looked toward the horizon and said, “Something’s wrong.”
...
The black mist spiraled swiftly among the forest like a swimming fish. Qianchuan Mingcao stood atop a flourishing locust tree branch, observing everything below. The black mist passed through him, paused briefly, and after he nodded lightly, it joyfully sped off into the distance. Mingcao gazed afar, a faint helpless smile on his strange face as he muttered a complaint to himself, “They say Qianchuan is populous, but isn’t it just me exhaustedly doing all the work? The two hidden chess pieces we painstakingly captured were just lost just like that. If that’s the case...” Mingcao laughed heartily, “Then go your own way.” The burly, monstrous man swished his sleeve gently, releasing a torrent of spiritual energy. The sky darkened as the black mist surged forward like a tidal wave, sweeping through the forest. Numerous pursuing Yaochi disciples were instantly knocked to the ground. Two expressionless old women exchanged glances, palms flourishing with falling petals, striking toward Mingcao’s head. He murmured with a serious expression, “Attack!”
...
On a mountain peak a thousand feet away from the Demon Locking Formation. Heavy celestial anomalies pressed down fiercely on the mindless monster’s head. Qinghua Immortal continuously cast seals, countless golden runes tirelessly repairing the restrictions on the three great mountains. From beginning to end, the monster remained calm, eerily so.

Black light flickered again in Qinghua’s eyes. Shortly after, she spoke: “Senior sister, assist me!” He Pianpian moved swiftly, thinking Qinghua’s spiritual power was insufficient, a common occurrence, and came to her side. She gently extended her right palm, sending a vast and pure spiritual power into Qinghua’s body without resistance. Qinghua felt the power, as refined as their master’s, and calmly said, “Senior sister, your control over spiritual bodies is growing stronger.” Her tone was calm, even somewhat cold. He Pianpian smiled faintly and softly said, “Not bad.” Qinghua smiled and said, “But you know well I’ve always loved the ‘Ten Thousand Swords as One’ technique since childhood. Why?” He frowned and said, “Junior sister, protect the seal first. It’s not as you think. We’ll discuss this after it’s over.” “Yes, it’s time to end this.” Qinghua smiled and lightly tapped the void ahead. Countless runes spun rapidly, forming an eerie pattern. One could faintly discern a single character. Radiant and astonishing energy erupted around the ground where Qinghua and He Pianpian stood, firmly trapping them in the center. He Pianpian’s body felt as if plunged into an ice cellar, unable to move. The moment was so swift that those nearby failed to react. The Flower Immortal abruptly turned and pointed at He Pianpian’s chest, shouting, “Rise!” Light reappeared. He Pianpian vanished instantly, reappearing within the three great mountains. The natural restrictions within locked her tightly. The three mountains began slowly moving outward, and the ancient runes inscribed on them lost their original luster. At that moment, the Dragon-Trapping Stake in Xi Jiu’s hands trembled violently, rumbling loudly. Above in the sky, the lotus flower’s glow dimmed, and the exotic phenomena of the Western Buddhist Kingdom flickered faintly. The ancient sword’s cicada-like chime pierced the air. After thousands of years, the enormous body hidden in darkness gradually manifested between heaven and earth. As two scarlet beams radiated from its eyes, a desolate and heavy demonic aura surged forth. A wave of deadly silence swept over the scene. “Traitorous disciple, how dare you release the great demon without authorization!” The Yaochi Sovereign’s furious voice exploded from afar.
