Chapter 34: Madam, I Still Prefer You!
Early that morning, Meng Ziyi returned to the capital aboard her private jet.
Chu Fei had intended to take advantage of his Third Senior Sister’s absence to finish what he and Shen Miaoyu had left undone last time. Unfortunately, Shen Miaoyu saw through his plan and went off with Secretary Jin to handle matters for the Chu Group, leaving Chu Fei, the hands-off boss, alone in the cold, empty villa.
Fortunately, Chu Fei had already decided the night before to meet his second fiancée today, which explained his presence here.
Among the seven marriage contracts, three of his fiancées resided in Dragon City, which was why Meng Ziyi arranged for Chu Fei to meet them here. Aside from Jiang Yunqi, the information on the other two was sparse—Meng Ziyi had deliberately refrained from investigating thoroughly. Thus, Chu Fei only knew that his second fiancée was named Song Yalan and lived here; her appearance and age were unknown. This was perhaps for the best, leaving ample room for imagination.
One could never predict what surprises the next fiancée might hold—would she be an imperious queen, a delicate maiden, mature or pure? It was like opening a blind box; the anticipation alone was exhilarating.
If today he could make progress with this fiancée, perhaps he could verify his theory about the black box—the conditions for unlocking it might be tied to changing fate.
As Chu Fei mused over these possibilities, he impatiently reached for the doorbell. Just then, someone called his name from behind.
Turning around, Chu Fei saw Guan Ya, her face alight with delight.
She hadn't returned home last night, so she was still dressed in that alluring black miniskirt. With her makeup removed, she lacked the icy aloofness of the previous evening, but her features remained flawless—indeed, beauty transcends cosmetics. Most striking was her nearly perfect figure, her long, fair legs glistening beneath the sunlight. Chu Fei recalled Jiang Yunqi’s remark: “Her legs are longer than my life!”
Before Chu Fei could react, Guan Ya approached, curiosity in her voice. "What are you doing here? Are you here to see me on purpose?"
"No, I'm here to see someone else," Chu Fei answered honestly.
Guan Ya chuckled lightly. "Still pretending? I saw you reaching for the doorbell. Don’t tell me you’re not here for me!"
"You live here too?" Chu Fei asked in surprise.
Could his second fiancée be living with Guan Ya? Were they sisters? That couldn’t be; one’s surname was Guan, the other's Song. Perhaps cousins or close friends? That would be… quite stimulating!
"Of course, this is my home. But how did you know I live here?"
Before Chu Fei could reply, Guan Ya continued, her tone aggrieved. "It must have been Qiqi who told you. She claimed to have deleted you, but I knew she was lying. Let's add each other on WeChat!"
Chu Fei, noticing her ample bosom, had no objections.
After he produced his QR code for her to scan, Guan Ya added him. She took a screenshot to flaunt to Jiang Yunqi and grumbled, "Qiqi really is something, giving away my home address so casually. Now, my safety is at risk!"
If the simpering admirers at Dragon City University saw Guan Ya like this, their jaws would drop. They might even ask, “Sister, where’s your icy aloof persona?” But as always, there’s no such thing as coldness—some people are simply warm to others, not you.
"You’re overthinking it," Chu Fei said, dampening her confidence a little. "I’m not here to see you. I’m here for Song Yalan."
Guan Ya thought she’d misheard and asked again, "Who did you say you’re looking for?"
"Song Yalan. Do you know her?"
"That’s my mother—do you think I know her!"
Chu Fei let out a startled “Ah,” then frowned, feeling as if his beautiful master had tricked him.
"Your mother is Song Yalan? She must be forty-something, then?"
"My mother had me young. She’s not even thirty-six yet!"
Chu Fei thought, thirty-six is still an older woman. Was his beautiful master toying with him? He quickly pivoted, saying, "Actually, I came to see you. How about we find somewhere to discuss life?"
Before he could finish speaking, a woman of extraordinary beauty and grace opened the door.
Her long, black hair was neatly pinned up with a wooden hairpin. Her features bore a resemblance to Guan Ya’s but carried a more mature allure, as if Guan Ya had ripened. She wore a dark green, short-sleeved qipao, perfectly tailored to accentuate her figure.
Chu Fei’s only thought upon seeing this glamorous woman was:
—Madam still possesses her charm.
Suddenly, he understood Cao Cao.
Guan Ya called out “Mom,” a little awkwardly.
Song Yalan frowned, especially as she saw Guan Ya and Chu Fei together, her displeasure deepening.
She questioned Guan Ya, "You didn’t come home last night—were you out carousing with this boy?"
"Mom, you’re mistaken. We’re not like that," Guan Ya quickly explained, anticipating her mother’s misunderstanding. "Besides, he’s here to see you!"
"Me? What for?" Song Yalan was puzzled, wondering if this boy had come to meet his future mother-in-law.
Chu Fei blurted out, "Of course, I’m here to do what lovers do with you."
"What?"
"No, I mean, are you Song Yalan?"
Song Yalan was displeased. "What’s wrong with you, young man? Is it proper to address your elders by name?"
"You can’t blame me. You look so young, I thought you were Guan Ya’s sister!" Chu Fei replied with a grin.
Though flattered by his comment, Song Yalan was not pleased. "Is this the boyfriend you found? Glib and unreliable!"
"Mom, I told you, he’s not my boyfriend," Guan Ya said helplessly. "How many times do I have to say it?"
Just as she finished, she cast a cautious glance at Chu Fei, worried he might be offended.
But the rascal’s attention was entirely on Song Yalan, not caring what Guan Ya said.
"If he’s not your boyfriend, why did you bring him home?" Song Yalan pressed.
Chu Fei replied earnestly, "I’m here to join you."
"Chu Fei… you!" Guan Ya looked at him in astonishment.
Was he about to confess to her mother right in front of her? Should she agree or… agree?
Song Yalan grew even more annoyed. "You’re not even denying it—he’s just admitted…"
Before she could finish, Chu Fei grabbed Song Yalan’s arm.
"Madam, I find myself preferring you!"
"Hey—"
"What?"
Guan Ya felt her worldview collapse. It was the first time she’d seen someone her age confess to her mother, and right in front of her.
Song Yalan was bewildered by Chu Fei’s boldness. Once she recovered, she shook off his hand.
"What are you talking about? I’m old enough to be your mother!"
"I prefer mature roses to unripe lemons. Age cannot keep our story from unfolding."
"Are you serious, you scoundrel?" Guan Ya protested, a little angry.
Chu Fei complained, "Is that how you speak to your stepfather?"
"Enough!" Song Yalan said, turning to Chu Fei. "I don’t know what you’re up to, but I don’t want to see you again. Leave immediately."
If you say that, then I’m all the more motivated.
Chu Fei produced the marriage contract and grinned at Song Yalan.
"Madam, you wouldn’t want your daughter to know about this, would you?"
