Chapter 30: The Giant Buddha of Leshan Rises for Your Seat!
“What happened?” Jiang Yunqi asked anxiously.
“Just now, a man rushed over and tried to drag Guanguan away. She slapped him, and then he flipped our table…” Luo Man was halfway through her explanation when a crackling noise suddenly came from the phone, and then nothing more could be heard.
Jiang Yunqi immediately pulled Chu Fei toward the main hall.
By now, the music had stopped. A fight had broken out, drawing quite a crowd of onlookers. But to call it a fight was generous—it was more like a one-sided beating. Jiang Yangrong and his group of rich second-generation kids, who had just been showing off in front of the girls, ended up being completely wiped out before they even got the chance to act tough.
A young man, foot planted firmly on Jiang Yangrong’s head, spat on him disdainfully. “Scum like you actually dares to lay a hand on me?”
Jiang Yangrong, still defiant, shouted, “You just wait! Brother Long, who manages this place, is my friend! I’ll have him deal with you!”
The young man sneered at this and grabbed Jiang Yangrong by the hair, delivering another hard slap. “Go ahead, call him. Let’s see if he’s got the guts to take me on.”
He didn’t even need to call for Brother Long. Any fight in the bar naturally brought security to the scene. Soon enough, the Brother Long Jiang Yangrong boasted about arrived with a group of security guards.
He first ordered the crowd to disperse, but Chu Fei and the others were left behind.
The moment Jiang Yangrong saw Brother Long, he acted as if he’d seen his own father, shouting loudly, “Brother Long, help me get rid of this bastard!”
The other rich kids, battered and bruised, breathed a sigh of relief at Brother Long’s arrival. They were regulars here and sometimes got into trouble, but Brother Long would always take their side and help them out. They assumed this time would be no different.
But to their shock, Brother Long, upon seeing the young man, immediately bent over in apology.
“Young Master Huang, what happened? Why are you so angry?” he asked nervously.
The young man, addressed as Young Master Huang, shot Brother Long a cold glance. Without another word, Brother Long strode over and gave Jiang Yangrong a vicious kick. “You’ve got some nerve, messing with Young Master Huang! Are you tired of living?”
Jiang Yangrong was completely bewildered. Brother Long, who usually treated them like brothers, was now beating him up instead. He had planned to use this opportunity to have Brother Long deal with Chu Fei, but instead he himself was getting the worst of it.
In total confusion, Jiang Yangrong asked, “Brother Long, why are you hitting me? Aren’t we friends?”
“Who’s your friend?” Brother Long snapped. “Open your eyes and look—this is Huang Guojie from the Huang Group! Do you really think a nobody like you can afford to offend him?”
None of Jiang Yangrong’s group were locals, but even they knew the reach of the Huang Group in this city. Huang Guojie’s notorious reputation was well known—even at their university, many female students had fallen victim to him.
So, learning they’d provoked the city’s most infamous thug, all of them turned ashen with fear.
“I didn’t know he was Huang Guojie! Brother Long, for the sake of our friendship, please put in a good word for me!” Jiang Yangrong pleaded.
But Brother Long ignored him, turning instead to Huang Guojie. “Young Master Huang, however you want to handle them, just leave it to me!”
Huang Guojie lit a cigarette, exuding arrogance. “Break their legs.”
“Understood!” Brother Long replied at once, then ordered his men to seize the group of rich kids.
Jiang Yangrong and the others broke down in tears, begging for mercy.
Seeing this, Jiang Yunqi glanced at Chu Fei, who was watching the scene with schadenfreude. “Aren’t you going to help?”
“Help with what? Aren’t they winning?” Chu Fei replied, genuinely puzzled.
He actually thought she was asking him to help Huang Guojie.
Jiang Yunqi sighed. “I mean Jiang Yangrong and the others! They’re about to have their legs broken!”
“Serves them right. Maybe they’ll even get a disability certificate and qualify for cheaper internet.” Chu Fei was merciless.
Qu Yiyi, standing on her moral high ground, rebuked him, “Are you even a man? You’re just going to stand by and watch them get their legs broken?”
“If you’re sick, shouldn’t you see a doctor?” Chu Fei looked seriously at Qu Yiyi. “What’s your name again? Never mind, I’ll just call you the nameless saint.”
Jiang Yangrong had been against him from the start; Chu Fei would have been happy to see him beaten to death, never mind stepping in to save him. The fact that he wasn’t joining in on the beating was already a favor to Jiang Yunqi and the others.
Qu Yiyi, left speechless by his retort, could only sneer, “You’re just scared, coward!”
But before she could finish, Chu Fei shoved her forward, sending her right up to Huang Guojie.
—If you’re so tough, go ahead and be the hero.
Huang Guojie looked at her coldly. “What, you want to plead for him?”
“Him? Who is he? I don’t even know that guy! Please, carry on!” Qu Yiyi blurted, then turned and fled without so much as a backward glance, abandoning Jiang Yunqi and the rest.
Huang Guojie ignored her. With a single look, Brother Long stepped forward, baseball bat in hand, and raised it high over Jiang Yangrong—about to smash his kneecap.
At last, Guan Ya could stand it no longer and cried out, “That’s enough, Huang Guojie! There’s no need to make this so ugly!”
Guan Ya couldn’t stand Jiang Yangrong, but after all, it was for her sake that he’d gotten into this fight. She didn’t want him to be crippled because of her.
“Guan Ya, for the sake of our past, I could let them go,” Huang Guojie said, his eyes roving over her greedily. “But first, you’ll have to kneel and beg me. Serve me well tonight, and maybe if I’m happy, I’ll let them go.”
Hearing this, Jiang Yangrong immediately began to wail, “Guan Ya, get on your knees! It’s your fault I offended Young Master Huang—what are you waiting for?”
The other three hangers-on, trembling, chimed in as well.
“Yeah, Guan Ya, just beg Young Master Huang. It’s not like it’ll cost you anything!”
“Young Master Huang, we really didn’t know she was your woman. Otherwise, we’d never have gotten involved!”
“I don’t want to be a cripple, Guan Ya! Haven’t you gotten us into enough trouble already?”
Seeing how utterly spineless they were, Jiang Yunqi suddenly felt that Chu Fei was right—not one of them was worth saving.
Guan Ya clenched her fists and said, “Huang Guojie, aren’t you afraid the Guan family will go all out against you for humiliating me like this?”
“Guan Caijun is dead. What can your family of widows and orphans do to me?” Huang Guojie sneered. “Besides, don’t forget—the Ouyang family has been wiped out, and your joint projects with them have collapsed. Aside from my Huang family, who else could protect you now?”
“If you insist on making this difficult, even if I take you by force, your family will have to thank me for it!”
The Ouyang and Guan families were business partners, but the Ouyang family had been destroyed just yesterday by Chu Fei. As a result, the Guan family’s finances were in dire straits. This was the main reason Huang Guojie dared to bully Guan Ya so brazenly.
Guan Ya trembled with rage, but she was powerless. Huang Guojie clearly had no intention of letting her go tonight. Even if she refused, he would take her by force, and she had no means to resist.
“Well? Have you made up your mind, Miss Guan?” Huang Guojie said triumphantly, convinced he had her cornered. “Either kneel now, or watch their legs get smashed. Of course, no matter what you choose, tonight I’ll make sure you experience both heaven and hell!”
Guan Ya, unable to bear it any longer, finally snapped, “Go screw yourself!”
“You asked for it, you filthy whore!” Huang Guojie roared, raising his hand to slap her.
