Alright, alright, so this is how you want to play. When you play with Guan Guan, you go easy, but when it’s my turn, you jump up and strike. How can you treat people so differently? Don’t forget, I’m your fiancée!

Jiang Yunqi’s patience was wearing thin as she stewed over the injustice. She wished she could whack Chu Fei and put an end to all the drama. But after several rounds, she’d been struck by Chu Fei so many times she was nearly through her third bottle of beer. Thankfully, this round she had a straight flush, so her chances were high.

She lifted her delicate face and, with a flourish, rolled five sixes. Chu Fei thought to himself, isn’t this just foolish? With such an obvious call, everyone knows you’ve got a straight flush. But it suited his plans perfectly, making his next move easier.

Suddenly, he reached out and grabbed Guan Ya’s fair hand, flashing her an innocent smile. “Help me shake the dice—I need to borrow some of your luck!”

Guan Ya was momentarily stunned, instinctively wanting to pull away, but Chu Fei released her hand first. That left her no reason to be angry, as Chu Fei had a perfectly legitimate excuse. Moreover, his actions weren’t at all inappropriate, so it didn’t seem like he was taking advantage—he just wanted Guan Ya to help him shake the dice. If Guan Ya took offense, she’d only appear petty.

“Aren’t you afraid I’ll betray you?” Guan Ya asked curiously.

Chu Fei grinned, “Of course I’m worried about your sisterly bond, so you can only shake the dice, not look at them. Otherwise, you might tip her off!”

“Am I that kind of person?” Guan Ya retorted, her eyes wide.

Chu Fei replied earnestly, “My mentor always said, ‘The prettier the woman, the better she is at lying!’”

“But I—” Guan Ya started, but Jiang Yunqi cut her off.

She shouted at Chu Fei, “Are you playing or not? Why so much drama?”

Indeed, Jiang Yunqi was reaching her breaking point. Guan Ya, however, found it rather amusing—rarely did she see Jiang Yunqi so flustered. But she knew not to push too far; she understood the importance of restraint.

So she promptly helped Chu Fei shake the dice cup. She wanted to peek inside, but Chu Fei gently pushed her face away. “I told you not to look. Why won’t you listen?”

Guan Ya could only mutter, “So stingy!”

She completely forgot that, in the span of a minute, Chu Fei had managed two opportunities for physical contact. To Jiang Yunqi, it was nothing short of flirting.

You scoundrel—I brought you here, not to let you seduce my best friend!

“Ten sixes!” Chu Fei called out directly.

“Huh?”

Jiang Yunqi eyed him suspiciously, “You don’t have a straight flush, do you?”

“That’s none of your business—are you going to open or not?” Chu Fei said, lighting a cigarette.

Both sides had five dice each. With a straight flush, the maximum is twelve. Even if Jiang Yunqi kept calling, if Chu Fei really had a straight flush, she had no chance. She had no choice but to open, gambling that Chu Fei didn’t have a straight flush.

Naturally, Chu Fei struck Jiang Yunqi. She thought it was a sign of his guilt and struck back. Two drinks—the highest stakes!

So when the dice cup was lifted, emotions ran high, just as Chu Fei had planned.

Sure enough, when Jiang Yunqi revealed the dice, the girls all watched Chu Fei nervously—even Qu Yiyi couldn’t help but look over.

Under their collective gaze, Chu Fei lifted his cup. “Ladies and gentlemen, six sixes!”

Hearing the number, Guan Ya quickly leaned in to check and, seeing it was truly six sixes, excitedly grabbed Chu Fei’s hand. “It really is a straight flush!”

Chu Fei lifted his head; their faces were so close, their eyes sparked with electricity. Guan Ya realized her faux pas and quickly let go.

“This medal of honor is half yours. Meeting me—you’re truly lucky!”

Chu Fei, as if nothing had happened, raised his left hand for a high five. The mood was at its peak. Guan Ya naturally played along and high-fived him. “It’s you who’s lucky to have met me.”

While they celebrated, Jiang Yunqi wore a sour expression. She’d already drunk quite a bit tonight, and these two drinks might push her over the edge. More importantly, since the start of the game, Chu Fei and Guan Ya seemed like a team, leaving her as the outsider.

She was the one who came first—how had a simple game made her feel so left out? Had she known, she never would have invited them!

Just as she awkwardly raised her glass, a hand covered hers. Jiang Yunqi looked at the owner of the hand, and though that face usually annoyed her, now it had an inexplicable charm—a sort of roguish handsomeness. Even in the noisy room, Jiang Yunqi could almost hear her own thunderous heartbeat.

Chu Fei snatched her glass and grinned, “Call me daddy and I’ll drink for you.”

Before Jiang Yunqi could react, Chu Fei downed the drink in one gulp and poured another. After all this, he turned to the indifferent Guan Ya and said, “Let’s continue. I’ve lost to you so many times; you owe me a chance to win, don’t you?”

Enough favoritism—it’s time to keep you all guessing!

The four girls each had their own thoughts.

Guan Ya: “Why is he helping Jiang Yunqi?”

Jiang Yunqi: “He cares about me!”

Luo Man: “This man is definitely trouble!”

Qu Yiyi: “Damn, he fooled me again!”

But as Chu Fei shifted the focus, Guan Ya had no choice but to pick up the dice cup. “I’ll give you this chance.”

And then, Chu Fei lost again.

He feigned annoyance. “Are you cursed to bring bad luck to your husband?”

“Huh?”

“Otherwise, how could you have me so thoroughly beaten tonight?”

Guan Ya shot him a sultry glance. “Trying to take advantage again, aren’t you?”

“Not at all, darling,” Chu Fei replied shamelessly.

Guan Ya was amused once more—she realized she’d laughed more tonight than she had all week. This man was indeed interesting. Though glib, he knew when to advance and retreat, much more engaging than those sycophantic boys of their age.

Jiang Yunqi, having tasted a bit of sweetness, found herself once again dissatisfied—though now there was a strange anticipation as well. She wondered what Chu Fei might do next.

Chu Fei chuckled inwardly. These shifting emotions were like a rollercoaster. How could they not get addicted?

Just as Chu Fei was about to further break down Jiang Yunqi’s defenses, trouble arrived. Jiang Rongyang appeared with three male classmates, pretending it was a coincidence as he approached.

Qu Yiyi, seeing Jiang Rongyang, knew drama was about to unfold. Let’s see how you, country bumpkin, handle this!

“Qiqi, why didn’t you call me when you were drinking?” Jiang Rongyang stood beside Jiang Yunqi, snorted coldly at Chu Fei, and said, “Country dog, you’re here too?”

Chu Fei couldn’t be bothered with words and was about to slap him, but Jiang Yunqi and Guan Ya jumped up first, baring their teeth at Jiang Rongyang fiercely.

“You’re the country dog!”

The two girls spoke almost in unison, then glanced at each other. Sparks flew as their eyes met, nearly setting the room alight.

Jiang Rongyang was stunned. What was going on? Jiang Yunqi berating him was one thing, but how had the aloof goddess Guan Ya started standing up for Chu Fei too? Had they all fallen under Chu Fei’s spell?

—This man is a demon, a true demon!
