Chapter 15: No, Is He Out of His Mind?
Shen Miaoyu followed his gaze and immediately her delicate face flushed. The events of two nights ago were still vivid in her mind—this man was simply too wild. She was still feeling sore; if it hadn’t been for the urgent need to visit her godfather, Shen Miaoyu wouldn’t have even set foot outside today.
“Come, let’s review last lesson’s material and consolidate what we’ve learned. Maybe this time, I’ll get an even better score with you.” As Chu Fei spoke, he climbed onto the bed, reaching out to take Shen Miaoyu’s slender, jade-like leg into his palm.
A shiver ran through her at his touch; it tickled, and she instinctively tried to pull her leg away, but Chu Fei held her fast. Realizing there was no escape, Shen Miaoyu picked up her phone.
Chu Fei chuckled, “Going to time me again? But it only counts once I’m in, otherwise it’s like I’m cheating.”

Before he’d even finished speaking, Shen Miaoyu snapped a photo of him.
Who would have thought that someone as elegant and refined as Shen Miaoyu would play such tricks in private? So, Chu Fei flashed a peace sign for the camera. Unexpectedly, Shen Miaoyu threatened, “Let go of me right now, or I’ll send this photo to Meng Ziyi!”
Last night, Chu Fei hadn’t dared kick down the door. That meant he didn’t dare act too outrageously in front of his third senior sister. So this was the only leverage Shen Miaoyu could think of.
“Go ahead. That only makes it more exciting,” Chu Fei said, completely unfazed by her threat, pressing on.
“I’m serious! Don’t push me, Chu Fei, aren’t you afraid your third senior sister will find out?” Shen Miaoyu’s voice trembled with anxiety.
Chu Fei grinned wickedly, “Then send it. But don’t forget, Shen Miaoyu, you’re living under someone else’s roof now. If you anger your third senior sister, forget about replacing the Ouyang family—you’ll probably be kicked out on the spot.”
“I’ll give you one minute to think it over. Will you accept your fate or not?”
Shen Miaoyu knew all too well the precariousness of her situation. If she really sent the photo to Meng Ziyi, at most, Chu Fei would get scolded. She, on the other hand, would have nowhere left to go. After all, Meng Ziyi had already secretly threatened her last night: if she dared get involved with Chu Fei again, she’d be thrown out immediately.
“You exploit other people’s weaknesses. You’re despicable, shameless!” Shen Miaoyu cursed at him.
Chu Fei was nonchalant. “Not only do I know how to exploit people’s weaknesses, I’m also good at filling in their gaps.”
This man was utterly shameless. How did every word that came out of his mouth turn into something so lewd?
At her wits’ end, Shen Miaoyu burst into tears.
“Crying?” Chu Fei gently wiped her tears away, his tone soft. “Crying still counts as part of the time, you know.”
Hearing that, Shen Miaoyu could only squeeze her eyes shut and resign herself. “Chu Fei, even if you have my body, you’ll never get my heart.”
“I have no interest in your heart. I’m just here for the fun.”
This scoundrel—may he never know peace! Shen Miaoyu had reached her limit with Chu Fei.
She could only grit her teeth, close her eyes, and convince herself it was just another bite from a dog.
But after a while, Chu Fei suddenly stopped moving. What was he doing? If he was going to do something, why dally?
She opened her eyes to find Chu Fei sitting on the sofa, lighting a cigarette, watching her with an amused expression.
What was wrong with him? He’d pushed her to this point and then just stopped?
“What’s the meaning of this?” she asked, frustrated as she got up.
Chu Fei flicked his ash and said, “If you don’t struggle, I lose interest. I prefer the feeling from the other night.”
“You’re just toying with me? You think this is funny?” Shen Miaoyu was furious; she felt her dignity had been trampled.
Chu Fei waved her off. “It was just a joke. Why are you so upset?”
In a fit of anger, Shen Miaoyu planted her foot on his chest and snapped, “Joke? If you’re so tough, then come at me for real! Are you even a man?”
The words left her lips before she realized how reckless she sounded. How had she become so impulsive, saying something so humiliating? It was all this man’s fault for throwing her off balance.
This was exactly what Chu Fei intended. What girls needed, after all, was emotional engagement. In just a few minutes, Shen Miaoyu’s emotions had shifted from anger to despair to disappointment. To be with a man of his caliber was to be swept along on a tide of emotional highs and lows—if nothing else, he’d give her emotional whiplash.
Just as Chu Fei felt the game of push and pull had reached its peak, Shen Miaoyu’s phone rang again.
After she answered, she hurried to leave.
Chu Fei asked, “Where are you rushing off to?”
“My godfather’s gravely ill. I’m going to see him,” she replied, quickly straightening her clothes.
“I’ll come with you. Maybe I can help.”
“And what can you do?”
“I’m a miracle doctor—I can cure anything.”
“You? A miracle doctor?”
Shen Miaoyu’s scornful look almost made her lose her composure.
“Did you forget who detoxified you the other night? The antidote’s still on me, you know.”
Shen Miaoyu fell silent. She didn’t want to argue with Chu Fei anymore—who knew where the conversation might lead next? If he wanted to follow, let him. She’d just treat him as if he were invisible. As for his claim to be a miracle doctor, she didn’t believe it for a second. How could anyone be that omnipotent?
What did he think he was, some invincible protagonist from a cheesy urban novel?
And so, Shen Miaoyu brought Chu Fei to the hospital.
The Cheng and Shen families had been close for generations, and Cheng Wen had always been fond of Shen Miaoyu. So upon hearing he was gravely ill, she immediately came to visit. Cheng Wen was also the city governor of Longcheng, a man of considerable power and rare integrity—a truly good official, never corrupt or self-serving.
Her late grandfather and Cheng Wen had shared a gentlemanly, distant friendship. Otherwise, with Cheng Wen’s power, if he’d wanted to support the Shen family for personal gain, how could they still be just a second or third-tier family?
The ward was crowded. Besides Cheng Wen, who lay unconscious in his hospital bed, there were many relatives and several hospital directors and specialists present.
When they saw Shen Miaoyu arrive with a strange man, Cheng Wen’s son, Cheng Kai, came forward to greet her, “Miaoyu, why didn’t you come with your father and the others?”
She had only been expelled from the Shen family yesterday, and since the news hadn’t spread, they were unaware.
“I came ahead to visit Grandpa,” she replied, brushing off the question with a casual excuse.
Cheng Kai then turned to Chu Fei. “And this is?”
Before Chu Fei could introduce himself, Shen Miaoyu jumped in, “He’s my… bodyguard.”
Chu Fei glanced at her and simply smiled, saying nothing more.
Hearing that Chu Fei was just a bodyguard, Cheng Kai ignored him and began discussing Cheng Wen’s condition with Shen Miaoyu.
Cheng Wen had always suffered from severe headaches, and this time was worse than ever. Even after emergency treatment, he hadn’t regained consciousness. According to the hospital’s specialists, if he didn’t wake soon, he might never wake again.
Shen Miaoyu’s eyes reddened as she listened. She approached Cheng Wen’s bed and softly called to him, but there was no response.
The Cheng family members all looked dejected.
Only Chu Fei looked entirely unconcerned; to him, such a minor ailment was nothing.
He had been thinking of lending a hand out of regard for Shen Miaoyu, but just then, another group entered the ward.
The leading figure caught sight of Shen Miaoyu and sneered, “You wretch, how dare you show your face here?”
