Yi Shen’s original plan was simply to target An Qing.

But after seeing this group of people, that cold and ruthless urge to kill once again surged within him. Although not everyone before him was necessarily evil to the core, if he were to execute every other one, there would still be some who slipped through the cracks.

This only made Yi Shen even less inclined to show mercy.

If this group died, not only could Peach Blossom Dock quickly consolidate in the aftermath, but Jingmen Safe Zone would also be rid of a malignant tumor.

Of course, the downside was that he might not learn the truth about the previous Moonlight Land incident from An Qing.

But with his current strength, the truth was no longer so important; sooner or later, he would have to enter Moonlight Land himself.

With a snap, Yi Shen didn’t bother to respond to Old Hei’s words. Instead, he unleashed several blazing Fire Rings, hemming in their entire group.

Flame Grass Ring was a B-rank fire spell that formed a large circle with several smaller rings within its perimeter. Whenever an enemy touched any of these rings, it would trigger a violent area explosion!

The cooldown for this spell was ten minutes, and it consumed a large amount of mana. Yi Shen rarely used it even against monster hordes, but now, against An Qing’s group, he cast five large rings and dozens of small ones in one go!

Moreover, Yi Shen activated his bombardment mode once again. This was the first time he had fought a team of Seekers, but he fought no differently than when facing monster swarms.

Boom!

A storm of spells rained down on the group, and all sorts of elemental summons appeared around them. Every member of An Qing’s team showed expressions of terror—at this late hour, none had expected this black mage to dare attack them!

“Defend! Defend!”

“Just take him out! He’s alone! Don’t get bogged down, or the monsters will catch up from behind!”

Old Hei reacted swiftly, directing the frontline to activate their defensive skills. A massive barrier of light rose up, blocking part of Yi Shen’s assault.

A barrage of arrows and clusters of spells flew at Yi Shen. Some counter-spells tried to interrupt his casting, while a few melee fighters set to work tearing down the earth walls Yi Shen had created.

At this point, they hadn’t realized Yi Shen’s true strength. What worried them more was that he was delaying their retreat, risking pursuit by the monsters.

But this awareness lasted only until Yi Shen released his spells.

“What the hell? Chain blinking? Can a mage really blink this many times?”

“Target can’t be locked!”

“He’s using Ice Block! Ice Block then blink, then again another Ice Block!”

“How can he cast so many fireballs at once? No, those are Pyroblasts!”

When facing a large secret realm boss, the team followed a strict routine: the front line absorbed damage, healers restored health, supports maintained formation, and damage dealers went all out.

Such a formation could withstand monsters ten or even twenty times stronger than themselves. If it were just Seekers on the other side, victory would be easy.

They assumed that after throwing out a few big skills, Yi Shen would be forced to retreat.

Unexpectedly, though some interrupts did break his casting, Yi Shen recovered almost instantly and resumed his magical attacks—as if cooldowns didn’t exist for him at all!

On the contrary, his attacks began to wear down the team. Even with seven healers, their health bars came under tremendous pressure.

Especially since Yi Shen would occasionally interrupt their healing, causing gaps in their recovery. At one point, he unleashed a barrage of counterspells, so that all mages, warlocks, and priests were unable to chant or channel, and even rangers had their skills interrupted!

Barely twenty seconds into the contact, everyone realized that something was seriously wrong with this black mage.

He was, in fact, an even more terrifying threat than the monsters behind them.

Yi Shen paid no heed to what they thought of him. Dodging as he fought, he gave An Qing a little extra “attention.”

An Qing’s class was Sage—a balance of healing and damage, but with low health.

Under Yi Shen’s focused assault, his health plummeted as if riding an elevator. If not for the healers’ strong support, An Qing would already have fallen to Yi Shen’s attacks.

It wasn’t until An Qing resorted to some special potion and activated a unique scroll that Yi Shen’s damage output was somewhat mitigated.

“Still too little firepower,” Yi Shen thought with a sigh as he continued his assault. Though it seemed he had the upper hand, his current output still wasn’t enough to cause casualties on the other side.

He even tried tanking their attacks, but their interrupts still came through; his ability to control group fights was just a bit lacking.

Or rather, if his stats were four or five times higher, he could easily finish them off.

“But this is still enough.”

A slight smile curved Yi Shen’s lips. The monster horde, drawn by the commotion, was already approaching; the leading flyers were less than a kilometer away.

An Qing’s team was thrown into chaos. Yi Shen didn’t let up, increasing the frequency of his attacks and reshaping the terrain to further hinder their movements.

With a crash, the monsters finally broke into the team. Yi Shen heard screams—though they were all seasoned Seekers, facing a hundred monsters plus Yi Shen’s assault, their formation was finally breached.

Once the formation broke, the Flame Grass Rings exploded, thunderous booms rolling across the ground and echoing through heaven and earth.

Yet even these sounds were drowned out by the movement of the monsters. Onlookers far away watched in fear, none daring to draw near.

“An Qing.”

Amid the chaos, Yi Shen saw An Qing being mauled by monsters.

A red glow radiated from An Qing, holding some of the werewolf monsters at bay.

But Yi Shen was unafraid to approach.

He blinked into the monster horde and unleashed an unerring Arcane Burst at An Qing.

From a distance, An Qing glared at Yi Shen and screamed, as if cursing him.

His eyes were full of confusion.

He had always considered himself arrogant, but before anyone powerful, he had shown nothing but deference. He couldn’t fathom why the black mage would target him so relentlessly.

“Hmm?”

An Qing’s health bar was nearly depleted.

Just as Yi Shen expected him to be finished off by the monsters, something strange happened—a bizarre shadow appeared on An Qing’s body.
