Chapter 152: Experience Field
"There really are a lot of monsters."
Yi Shen had no idea that the outside world was in a complete uproar over the Tomb of the Human Emperor. Ever since he entered the secret realm, he had lost all contact with the outside world.
Besides, behind this Golden Gate was by no means just a simple subterranean space; looking at the domain that spanned the heavens and the earth, it was clear they had entered an entirely different world.
Yi Shen was hardly afraid. He stepped directly through the Golden Gate, and immediately encountered countless monsters upon this battlefield.
Some of these monsters were of very low level, barely reaching level ten or so, while others were extremely high level—so high that Yi Shen's appraisal skill couldn't even detect them, likely putting them at least at level seventy or eighty.
The monsters on the battlefield were locked in a melee divided into three factions. If Yi Shen understood correctly, they belonged to the "Human," "Earth," and "Heaven" factions.
So far, Yi Shen hadn't discovered their base camps, but his data panel indicated that he belonged to the Human faction. Consequently, the monsters of the Human faction appeared green and would not attack him, while those of the other two races appeared red.
Of course, after Yi Shen cast a few forbidden spells, he could no longer tell the difference between red and green; he simply wiped them all out in one fell swoop.
Yi Shen's score immediately experienced an explosive surge.
To Yi Shen's even greater surprise, slaying these monsters actually yielded loot spheres and experience points!
The loot included pieces of equipment and even some ancient artifacts that could be dismantled, which instantly piqued Yi Shen's interest.
Just like that, gaps were cleared directly into the three-way chaotic battle zone. Under Yi Shen's forbidden spell clearing, regardless of which faction's monsters approached, they were instantly swallowed by raging flames or sliced into pieces by fierce gales.
In a mere half-hour, Yi Shen had gained nearly ten million experience points, raising his level to 48.
Not only were these monsters dense in population and generous with experience, but Yi Shen also uniformly dismantled everything they dropped. He was now able to control lunar energy to imbue the loot spheres and dismantle them directly. His dimensionality-reducing strikes across the battlefield left virtually nothing alive in his wake.
Further along, Yi Shen encountered some flying monsters and elite monsters.
However, the pressure these creatures exerted on Yi Shen wasn't significant; at best, they were just slightly more troublesome to deal with than those in the Scepter Secret Realm.
At the same time, this slight "difficulty" slowly dissipated as Yi Shen's attributes continuously grew, making no real difference to him overall.
Time slipped away bit by bit.
Realizing that this battlefield was an efficient place to farm experience points and attributes, Yi Shen simply stopped rushing to explore further ahead. While this ancient battlefield might be a literal meat grinder for anyone else, to Yi Shen, it was truly nothing more than an experience-farming ground.
Especially with the spatial defense skill of the Xuanwu blocking incoming threats, Yi Shen didn't have to worry about being attacked most of the time. Contribution points and experience points alike poured toward him in torrents.
No wonder so many high-level explorers loved exploring secret realms; at this rate, Yi Shen felt he could stay for a month or two without feeling the least bit bored.
Unlike Yi Shen's leisurely stroll inside the Tomb of the Human Emperor, near the Suizhou Safe Zone, with the rising of the Tomb and the approach of fierce beasts, the crowd had already descended into panic!
"Run!"
"There's no choice, we can't outrun them! Head closer to the Tomb of the Human Emperor."
"Enter the Tomb of the Human Emperor!"
"Don't look into that fox's eyes, the fox's eyes are cursed!"
At the protective perimeter outside the Tomb of the Human Emperor, some approaching exotic beasts had arrived. Aside from the Xuanwu killed by Yi Shen, the very first to arrive was the exotic beast known as the "Celestial Fox"!
This was a snow-white fox, records of which appeared long ago in the *Classic of Mountains and Seas*.
"A fox, at fifty years old, can transform into a woman; at a hundred years, into a beauty or a divine shaman..."
"It can perceive events a thousand li away, is skilled in bewitchment, makes people lose their minds and senses, and at a thousand years, communicates with the heavens!"
The Celestial Fox before them hadn't undergone any bizarre transformations, but its body was a full ten-plus meters tall. Aside from its pure white fur, it possessed a pair of ash-gray eyes.
Among exotic beasts, the Celestial Fox was actually considered relatively small in size, but upon its arrival, any explorers who locked eyes with it instantly lost their minds and were charmed. In the charmed state, they retained their own consciousness, yet completely lost control of their own bodies.
This directly resulted in a chaotic melee breaking out among the explorers, who for a time didn't even know whether they should attack the Celestial Fox or their own companions!
Not only that, right after the Celestial Fox appeared, another massive avian exotic beast arrived.
This avian beast was a full thirty-plus meters in length and breadth, recorded in texts as the "Ming Snake."
The *Classic of Mountains and Seas* records: "Its body is like a snake, but it has four wings and makes a sound like rolling stones. Where it appears, the region suffers a great drought."
This Ming Snake was not only enormous, but its attacks also carried earth-elemental supplementary damage that ordinary defense lines simply could not withstand. It was unquestionably a lord-level monster!
For safety's sake, this forced many teams that had originally not intended to enter the Tomb of the Human Emperor to crowd closer toward it.
Furthermore, the Ming Snake and the Celestial Fox were not allies; the two sides occasionally engaged in battle and friction, and the aftermath of their clashes swept through the surrounding crowd.
Currently, the Ming Snake was on the east side and the Celestial Fox was on the south, making the scene even more chaotic.
Fortunately, however, the first batch of people, led by Shen Shimao and the others, had already entered the main hall of the Tomb of the Human Emperor.
They hadn't taken the side door Yi Shen used, but rather the largest main gate.
Previously, approaching this main gate produced immense pressure, but now, aside from a rich red aura, the fatal sense of repulsion was gone.
The crowd surged forward, and in a short span of time, thousands of explorers, large and small, entered the Tomb of the Human Emperor.
Back at the nearby Suizhou Safe Zone, city-wide alarms had already been blared to prevent the populace from being caught in the aftermath of the exotic beasts' attacks!
Upon stepping into the hall, the first batch of people to enter the Tomb of the Human Emperor encountered something somewhat similar to what Yi Shen had found: three great doors.
Yet along the paths leading to these three doors, specialized traps appeared, and even scattered skeletal remains could be found.
Fortunately, due to the large number of people and the wide variety of fully developed class skills, through concerted and cooperative efforts, they managed to reach the vicinity of the gates.
The three great doors were opened one after another. Some people chose the red door, some chose the blue door, and others chose the purple door.
At the same time, all of them received prompt notifications corresponding to different factions.
Those who chose the red door arrived in a mural-filled hall previously visited by Yi Shen.
Those who chose the blue door found themselves on a floating cloud disk covered in various glyphs.
Those who chose the purple door encountered a long corridor lined with stone statues that seemed both like living entities and lifeless objects, each statue bearing certain cryptic items of information.
