Chapter 123: The Dragon-Binding Rope
A flicker of panic stirred in Bai Jingjing’s heart.
Upon hearing her words, Lin Qiu paid no heed to her intentions and promptly led him to a prison cage, locking him inside without hesitation.
Despite Bai Jingjing’s furious roars, Lin Qiu merely turned away and left the detention area.
Once outside, Lin Qiu went straight to seek out Liu Changfeng.
He wished to inquire about Xu Bing, mainly because the system had issued a mission to investigate Xu Bing’s origins thoroughly.
Liu Changfeng was engrossed in an experiment within the laboratory. After waiting for some time, Lin Qiu saw Liu Changfeng emerge.
“What do you want?” Liu Changfeng asked, curious about Lin Qiu’s sudden appearance.
“Are Xu Bing and Xu Bancheng really siblings?” Lin Qiu asked bluntly. Upon hearing this, a peculiar expression crossed Liu Changfeng’s eyes.
Clearly, he hadn’t expected such a question.
“Why are you suddenly asking about this? Didn’t your contract with Xu Bing end?” Liu Changfeng tried to steer the conversation away.
Lin Qiu, hearing this, began to suspect that there were still unknown secrets surrounding Xu Bing.
“I’ve just received some information and wanted to confirm it with you. If it’s inconvenient to talk, that’s fine,” Lin Qiu said, attempting to pry something out of Liu Changfeng subtly.
“You should ask Xu Bancheng about this; asking me won’t help,” Liu Changfeng replied frankly, having caught on to Lin Qiu’s intent.
Seeing Liu Changfeng so decisive, Lin Qiu refrained from further questioning and turned to leave.
“If you have time, you’d better talk to Xu Bing,” Liu Changfeng added as Lin Qiu was leaving.
Lin Qiu said nothing in response. He pondered inwardly how to sever his ties with Xu Bing.
After leaving the Beast Management Bureau, Lin Qiu did not return immediately to the ocean. Instead, he headed to the sealed underground world where Bai Zhan was imprisoned.
The system had informed him that he could enter and exit sealed places at will. He wanted to visit Bai Zhan to try to glean any information about the Primordial World.
His primary goal was to understand how many warriors of Bai Zhan’s caliber existed in the Primordial World.
Had it not been for a mysterious figure’s intervention, Lin Qiu might have already become Bai Zhan’s captive. Now that Bai Zhan was sealed, he could probe the strength of the Primordial World.
Numerous forces had already revealed themselves: the Primordial World, the Undersea Royal Clan, the Undying Evil Sect… and several scattered factions. The complexity of this world’s hidden powers left Lin Qiu both curious and cautious.
While lost in thought, Lin Qiu arrived at Bai Zhan’s sealed domain.
With the system’s aid, he successfully entered the underground world, where sealing formations covered the area. Bai Zhan was suppressed at the center, surrounded by several black chains.
“Special object detected: Dragon-binding Chains,” the system alerted him as he stepped within the formation’s range.
At the center, Bai Zhan’s eyes snapped open, filled with murderous intent.
Lin Qiu ignored Bai Zhan and focused on the chains. These black shackles emitted a dangerous response, resonating deeply with his bloodline.
He possessed the true dragon bloodline, and something that even caused fear in a true dragon’s veins was certainly no ordinary matter.
“System, help me collect this object,” Lin Qiu commanded.
For safety reasons, he did not remove the Dragon-binding Chains himself but had the system store them directly into his spatial inventory.
As the chains vanished, surprise flickered across Bai Zhan’s face.
“Dragon-binding Chains are the embodiment of the Great Dao’s law. You can actually take them away? Your secrets are indeed numerous,” Bai Zhan spoke up, initiating conversation, seemingly unconcerned that Lin Qiu was the reason for his imprisonment.
“Do you want out? If you cooperate, I can find a way to free you,” Lin Qiu tempted him, hoping to glean some information without cost. His unfamiliarity with the various factions was a grave disadvantage.
“Don’t bother with your petty tricks. I’ve lived thousands of years and seen every ploy,” Bai Zhan scoffed, his tone laced with derision.
Lin Qiu paid no mind to the mockery and responded boldly, “So what? If you don’t cooperate, you’ll stay here forever.”
“Do you really think what’s sealed here is all of me?” Bai Zhan sneered.
His words sent a warning signal through Lin Qiu’s mind.
Bai Zhan continued, “This is merely half of my primal soul. Once the Primordial Realm’s restrictions lift, it will be time for me to personally end your life.”
Lin Qiu was stunned, unable to fathom that only half of Bai Zhan was imprisoned here.
“The Primordial Realm also seals tenth-tier experts. Host, there’s no need for undue worry,” the system explained at that moment.
Lin Qiu understood the situation better but knew he could not extract any more information from Bai Zhan. Without wasting further time, he turned and left.
“Ding-ling-ling!”
As Lin Qiu exited Bai Zhan’s sealed area, his phone rang.
Picking up, Xu Bancheng’s voice came through urgently: “Come to Steel Great Wall District No. 53 immediately.”
Before Lin Qiu could reply, Xu Bancheng hung up.
Lin Qiu was well acquainted with the Steel Great Wall, as he had designed its blueprints himself. Without hesitation, he set off toward District No. 53.
