Chapter 72: The Little Hawk and the Little Tiger
The rich aroma of roasted meat filled the entire house.
Xu Han carried a piece of roast nearly half the size of a person into the living room and placed it before the iron cage.
The young Storm Hawk stared intently at the meat, spreading its wings. It desperately wanted to eat, yet somehow couldn’t bring itself to do so. Lowering its head, it gazed at the bottom of the cage, pretending not to look. If it didn’t look, it wouldn’t want to eat.
Xu Han couldn’t help but laugh. This little creature was quite stubborn.
“If you won’t eat, then I’ll have to eat it myself,” he said, tearing off a chunk of meat and popping it into his mouth, chewing noisily.
The young Storm Hawk sneaked a glance at the meat, nearly drooling with hunger. The aroma was simply irresistible!
Xu Han smiled, “Are you craving it, little one?”
He tore off a piece and tossed it into the cage. In a flash of lightning, the young Storm Hawk landed beside the meat, pecking at it eagerly. Its beak moved ceaselessly, and soon that small piece was devoured completely.
Then, it turned its gaze to Xu Han, tilting its head, eyes filled with anticipation and curiosity.
Xu Han dangled another piece of roasted meat before the hatchling. “Want some?”
The young Storm Hawk nodded, its tiny eyes shining as if lit from within.
Xu Han grinned, “If you want to eat, you’ll have to first make a pact with me, become my pet.”
At this moment, he looked very much like a mischievous adult tempting a child with a lollipop.
The young Storm Hawk sized up Xu Han, hesitating.
Seeing it still resist, Xu Han’s smile faded. “So, you think I can’t handle you?”
He summoned his will. A magic circle appeared beside him, and a massive tiger cub materialized.
“Roar!” The cub nuzzled Xu Han's face affectionately, its tongue lapping at his cheek, leaving it drenched in saliva.
Xu Han, somewhat disgusted, lifted the cub by the scruff and set it aside. The cub looked aggrieved.
Pointing at the large piece of meat, Xu Han said, “This is all yours.”
The cub gazed at the meat, drooling. It pounced, opened wide, and devoured over half of it in a single bite.
The young Storm Hawk flapped its wings helplessly, watching the meat disappear into the cub’s belly.
Xu Han looked at the Storm Hawk and smiled, “Little one, if you become my pet, you’ll receive the same treatment.”
“What do you say?”
The Storm Hawk paused, standing in the cage, tilting its head. It glanced at the roast, then at Xu Han, seeming to deliberate.
Xu Han waited patiently.
After a moment, the Storm Hawk seemed to have made its decision. It extended a claw and tapped the air lightly. A mysterious magic circle appeared instantly, different from the cub’s; this one was a dark purple, while the cub’s was earthy yellow.
As the circle materialized, the room echoed with muffled thunder. The lights flickered, the circuit disrupted.
Xu Han placed his hand on the magic circle. The Storm Hawk’s body was instantly absorbed into the circle and vanished.
Xu Han sensed a new mental link form within him.
With a thought, he summoned a magic circle. As its light faded, the young Storm Hawk appeared before him, landing on his shoulder and staring fixedly at the remaining meat.
Xu Han grinned, saying, “Cub, leave some for your sibling.”
The tiger cub looked at the Storm Hawk and growled in protest, but ultimately relinquished the meat.
The Storm Hawk joyfully pounced on the roast, pecking at it. Its wounds began to heal.
Xu Han took out the pet food he’d bought and set it on the floor: three platinum-grade, nine gold-grade pet foods.
Both the cub and the Storm Hawk cast greedy eyes at the food, irresistibly drawn to it.
“With two pets now, I can’t just call you ‘cub’—too confusing. One shall be Little Tiger, the other Little Hawk; easy to remember.”
Xu Han decided their names.
He beckoned to Little Hawk, “Come here, let me purify your bloodline first.”
Little Hawk flew to Xu Han’s shoulder, eyes locked on three dark purple fruits below—gold-grade electric pet food, the Plasma Berry.
Xu Han handed a Plasma Berry to Little Hawk. Its sharp beak pierced the skin, releasing dark purple juice crackling with electricity—something humans could never consume, but the perfect tonic for a beast.
Little Hawk greedily absorbed the berry, finishing it in seconds, leaving only the skin.
It let out a long cry.
Electric arcs danced across its body, growing more intense until they formed a sphere of lightning that enveloped it.
Xu Han’s eyes shone with anticipation. Little Hawk’s bloodline was purifying!
He waited eagerly.
Soon, the lightning dispersed, and in the living room stood a dark purple bird, several times larger than before. The original hawk had been palm-sized; now, it was nearly the size of a child.
The bird cried out and landed on Xu Han’s shoulder, affectionately rubbing his face.
Xu Han was delighted. The creature’s power had increased significantly.
He checked Little Hawk’s attributes:
[Name: Lightning Hawk (one ten-millionth Sky Thunder Falcon bloodline)]
[Species: Avian]
[Level: 1]
[Strength: 40]
[Constitution: 30]
[Agility: 100]
[Spirit: 10]
[Skill 1: Thunderclaw LV.1 (Infuses lightning into its claws; when striking an enemy, has a 10% chance to paralyze the target for 0.5–3 seconds. Cooldown: 1 minute)]
[Skill 2: Lightning Strike LV.1 (Summons thunder to attack an enemy; 10% chance to paralyze. Cooldown: 3 minutes)]
[Bloodline Purification Requirement: Platinum-grade electric pet food x1]
Xu Han’s eyes sparkled. Every attribute of Little Hawk had increased tenfold! It had fully awakened its lightning affinity, gaining two powerful skills—far superior to wind attributes.
Once Little Hawk’s strength rose, it would certainly rival Little Tiger in combat.
If he could elevate both to legendary divine beast bloodlines, possessing two mighty beasts, who in the world could stand against him?
Xu Han patted Little Hawk’s head. Sadly, he had no platinum-grade electric pet food at hand; otherwise, he could further purify its bloodline.
Turning to Little Tiger, Xu Han said, “Cub, it’s your turn now.”
He pointed to the pet food on the floor. “All of this is yours.”
Little Tiger’s eyes lit up. It pounced and began devouring the food in great gulps.
