Chapter 24: Does the University Serve Exotic Beast Meat?
Xu Han followed Liu Qiangjun up to the stage.
The instant Tang Mimi saw Xu Han, she froze in shock.
“Teacher Zheng, it’s him! That’s the one!”
Zheng Zucai was taken aback, surprise filling his gaze. “You mean, the Living Lei Feng we’ve been looking for is Xu Han?”
Tang Mimi nodded vigorously.
Zhu Junjie frowned, sizing up Xu Han as he walked over.
“This guy doesn’t look like he could even wring a chicken’s neck. Can he really go head-to-head with the Ghost-faced Ape King?”
Wu Peijun’s mind conjured up the scene from that day. The terrifying strength of the Ghost-faced Ape King was still vivid in his memory!
He could barely take two punches. If he tried to withstand a third, he’d rather just drop dead on the spot!
He scrutinized Xu Han, unable to believe that someone who looked half as robust as himself could be the Living Lei Feng they were seeking.
“Tang Mimi, are you sure you haven’t got the wrong person?” he asked.
Tang Mimi nodded firmly, “There’s no mistake, it’s definitely him! His face is etched in my mind—I couldn’t be wrong!”
As they spoke, Liu Qiangjun brought Xu Han before Zheng Zucai and said respectfully, “Teacher Zheng, this is Xu Han.”
Zheng Zucai’s gaze fell on Xu Han, and he smiled. “Xu Han, are you willing to attend Dragon Kingdom University?”
“As long as you come to Dragon Kingdom University, you’ll be granted A-level student privileges, along with a bonus of five hundred thousand.”
“Besides that, if you have any other requests, just let me know. If it’s within my power, I’ll see to it.”
Liu Qiangjun was dumbfounded.
Wait a minute—
Is this a special recruitment? And not just that, but with the treatment reserved for the top scorer!
If it were only ordinary special admission, such generous terms would never be offered.
The principals behind them exchanged glances, shock shining in every eye.
Last year, a few students from Donghai City did make it into Dragon Kingdom University.
But they all enrolled as E-level students, living a rather meager existence.
Compared to Xu Han, they were worlds apart!
Xu Han pondered for a moment before asking, “What benefits does an A-level student receive?”
Zheng Zucai smiled, “A-level students receive one-on-one tutelage from a mentor, and 200 basic credits.”
“At Dragon Kingdom University, money’s sole purpose is to be exchanged for credits, and credits can get you anything you want.”
“With enough credits, you can even exchange for epic-level equipment and skills, along with many other things you wouldn’t even imagine.”
The principals were left wide-eyed, whispering among themselves.
“Just as you’d expect from Dragon Kingdom University—what a generous offer! You can actually trade credits for epic-level equipment and skills? You can hardly buy those things anywhere else!”
“That’s right. I’ve heard some other universities are copying Dragon Kingdom’s credit system, but their rewards are nowhere near as grand. At best, they offer gold- to platinum-level gear—nothing higher.”
“And look at this kid, he’s still hesitating! What’s there to hesitate about? I’d agree on the spot! With benefits like these, how could anyone waver?”
They all looked at Xu Han with a mixture of frustration and envy, as if itching to answer on his behalf.
Zhu Junjie crossed his arms and frowned, “Seems like he’s still not satisfied with the perks.”
“Direct admission as an A-level student—I’ve never even heard of such a thing until now!”
Li Yu nodded. “I heard even the top five on the leaderboards only got C-level when they were specially recruited.”
“Even that was a record for Dragon Kingdom University.”
“Surely Xu Han isn’t going to turn his nose up at this?”
Wu Peijun shook his head. “Impossible! This is the best treatment you’ll find—nowhere else in the Dragon Kingdom could you get this!”
As the crowd continued to speculate, Xu Han spoke at last. “I have a question—can credits be exchanged for exotic beast meat?”
Everyone paused, surprised.
“What’s he asking that for? Is he obsessed with exotic beast meat?”
“What’s the use of that stuff? It doesn’t boost attributes or give experience. At best, it’s a treat for the taste buds. What a waste of credits—why not trade for skills or equipment instead?”
“Who would go to a professional university just for exotic beast meat?”
Zheng Zucai clearly hadn’t expected this question, but he smiled and nodded. “Of course. Dragon Kingdom University has dozens of varieties of high-grade exotic beast meat, and hundreds of lower-grade ones.”
“Whenever you want, you can exchange for them, and even have the cafeteria’s master chefs prepare them for you.”
Xu Han’s eyes lit up.
Hundreds of kinds of exotic beast meat? Even high-grade ones!
If he could eat all of them, his own strength would surely soar, and he could also complete a good portion of the Gourmet’s Compendium quests.
He had long coveted the mysterious grand prize promised by the Gourmet’s Compendium.
Seeing Xu Han’s interest, Zheng Zucai pressed his advantage. “Furthermore, in the Exotic Beast Research Institute at Dragon Kingdom University, there’s even a piece of tier-nine beast meat.”
“As long as you have enough credits, you could even exchange for that.”
Xu Han nodded. “All right, I’m willing to enter Dragon Kingdom University.”
Zheng Zucai beamed with satisfaction.
As if afraid Xu Han might change his mind, he immediately produced a document and held it out to him. “Here is the special admission notification for Dragon Kingdom University.”
“All you need to do is sign your name. I’ll take care of the rest.”
Xu Han nodded and signed.
Zheng Zucai carefully tucked away the notice, then extended his hand with a bright smile. “Welcome to Dragon Kingdom University, Xu Han. In one month, the new student orientation begins.”
“Once you arrive, everything will be arranged for you.”
Xu Han nodded. “That means I don’t have to take the college entrance exam, right?”
Zheng Zucai chuckled, “Of course not. Isn’t the entrance exam just for getting into university in the first place?”
Xu Han stroked his chin and nodded. “Then I’ll take my leave.”
Without a hint of nostalgia, he turned and left.
Zhu Junjie watched him go, slightly disgruntled. “Teacher Zheng, I think the benefits you’re giving him are too much.”
“Is someone like him really worth it?”
Zheng Zucai glanced at him. “If you can reach level fifteen by the entrance exam, or drive back the Ghost-faced Ape King with a single punch, you’ll get the same treatment.”
Zhu Junjie opened his mouth, but couldn’t argue.
If he had to face the Ghost-faced Ape King head-on, he’d be grateful just to escape with his life.
Zheng Zucai rose, his expression calm once more, and looked to Liu Qiangjun. “Director Liu, I’ll take my leave now.”
Liu Qiangjun hurried after him. “Aren’t you going to stay a bit longer?”
Zheng Zucai shook his head. “My students will keep an eye out for me. If there’s anyone promising, they’ll let me know.”
“Oh, and please compile Xu Han’s personal information. Secretary Wang will come collect it in a couple of days.”
Liu Qiangjun nodded eagerly. “Don’t worry, Teacher Zheng. I’ll personally prepare all the materials and deliver them to you within the next two days!”
