Finding a retort to Wang Chen’s words, Cai Kun felt a surge of pride in his heart. However, Wang Chen sneered, “So what? What does that prove? Do you dare to come in?”

Cai Kun was taken aback for a moment, then shouted, “You’re shameless! You called us cowards before, and now you act indifferent?”

“So what? Do you dare to come in?” Wang Chen repeated.

“You sound as if you’re the ones who dare to come out!” Cai Kun snapped angrily.

“Right, right, so do you dare to come in?” Wang Chen’s response was unwavering.

Cai Kun was driven to the edge and yelled, “We’ll storm in!”

He was about to charge forward when his teammates hurriedly stopped him. “Calm down. They’re provoking you on purpose, trying to lure us into that thick smoke.”

“Then should we just be scaredy-cats?” Cai Kun fumed.

“We’re not saying don’t go in,” the archer student said, “but if we do, we need to probe first.”

“Maybe they set traps inside, waiting for us to step on them,” he added.

The archer turned to the mage student. “Cast a small spell to disperse part of the smoke so we can check for traps.”

“The smoke covers such a wide area; they can’t have traps everywhere. Once we find the traps, we can avoid them,” he continued.

The archer then glanced at a student in white robes beside him. “Cast a light shield on Cai Kun.”

“As for everyone else, wear your gear and be extra careful. Protect your vital points.”

Faced with Cai Kun’s nearly irrational rage and the archer student’s calm instructions, everyone knew what to do.

They all started moving according to the archer’s orders.

Suddenly, a magic array appeared beneath the mage student’s feet, and a ghostly dice-shaped figure swirled around him.

When the magic seal first appeared, the archer’s face changed, and he shouted urgently, “Watch out!”

He thought Wang Chen’s team was about to ambush them and that this skill might cause serious harm to the mage.

But everything happened too fast—no one managed to come to the mage’s aid.

They could only watch helplessly as the dice-shaped figure circled him, then suddenly stopped and vanished.

The mage student stood there unharmed, clutching his staff nervously, utterly perplexed.

“What happened to me? Am I cut open?” he asked uncertainly, feeling his body. He had heard that if an injury came too fast, one might not feel pain.

Now he felt no pain, so maybe that was why.

“No,” the archer student said, equally baffled as he looked at the mage. “You’re fine.”

He circled the mage a few times, confirming again, “You really have no injuries.”

Then he frowned. “Then what was that dice-shaped shadow? What effect did it have?”

As he pondered, another magic array appeared under the mage’s feet, projecting a dice-shaped shadow swirling around him.

“Watch out!” the archer shouted again, pale as a ghost.

But once more, the mage was unharmed.

Then another magic array appeared beneath him... but nothing happened.

This cycle repeated many times in just a minute, leaving Cai Kun’s team dumbfounded.

“It’s like he’s dancing at a club,” the white-robed student muttered.

Indeed, the glowing magic arrays continuously flashing beneath the mage’s feet, with the swirling dice, looked like some kind of nightclub lighting effect.

“Damn it, stop messing around!” Cai Kun, exhausted from the trickery, shouted in frustration.

“This has to be Wang Chen’s feint—don’t mind it! Stick to the plan!”

The mage flinched at the shout and quickly aimed his staff at the smoke, preparing to cast a spell.

The archer student cautioned, “Cai Kun, we haven’t figured this out yet...”

Cai Kun shot him a glare. “Figure what out? Can’t you see Wang Chen is just stalling us?”

“We want to stop him from scoring, but he uses smoke and these dice illusions to confuse us, making us hesitate. That gives him time to rack up points!”

“So stop hesitating! Cast the spell!” Cai Kun roared at the mage.

The mage dared not hesitate and hurriedly waved his staff. A gentle breeze seemed to stir. “Wind Whirl!”

This skill summons a small whirlwind to blow away part of the smoke.

It was originally meant to disrupt the enemy, but unexpectedly, it came in handy here.

However, after the mage shouted the spell, no whirlwind appeared on the staff.

He looked at his staff in confusion and tried again. “Wind Whirl!”

Still no response.

The mage was utterly puzzled, wondering if his casting posture was wrong. He contorted his body into various poses and repeated “Wind Whirl” several more times.

But the situation remained unchanged.

Seeing this, Cai Kun shouted, “What are you doing? Going crazy? Cast the spell already!”

The mage scratched his head nervously. “I already cast it, but... nothing’s happening.”

He pulled up his class panel and saw that the Wind Whirl skill was on cooldown.

He waved his arms frantically. “Look, I really cast the spell!”

The group gathered to check the panel and found his claim was true.

Everyone was thoroughly baffled.

After a moment’s thought, the archer said, “Could it be that your opponent, Cai Kun, is messing with us?”

Cai Kun was annoyed. “Impossible. He’s just a life shaman. How could he do something like that?”

The archer, calm and steady, said, “We can’t be sure. Those dice shadows might be skill animations.”

“Maybe they have skills or equipment that cancel the effects of our spells.”

The archer’s tone grew more certain. “That must be it. Otherwise, we can’t explain what those dice shadows were for.”

Hearing this, Cai Kun hesitated, realizing it was indeed possible.

“Let’s just assume it’s an enemy skill effect,” the mage said, gripping his staff. “What do we do now? If my spells have no effect, how do we scout ahead?”

No one else in Cai Kun’s team had skills to disperse smoke.

They could rush in blindly, but it felt too dangerous.

The archer thought for a moment. “Try casting another spell. See if the same thing happens.”

He figured that even if the enemy had skills or gear to cancel spells, it wouldn’t be unlimited.

If they tried enough times, some would succeed.

The mage nodded reluctantly and waved his staff toward the smoke. “Wind Blade!”
