Duan Feihan’s usually calm voice carried a faint tremor. “Are you alright?”

Bai Chuwei drew in his spiritual energy greedily, suddenly feeling that this turn of events wasn’t a loss at all.

Without hesitation, she wrapped her arms around Duan Feihan in return. Her slender fingers brushed against the man’s broad, straight back and stiffened abruptly.

His suit was soaked with cold sweat, as if he had just been fished out of water.

He... seemed to have been worried sick.

The girl in his arms gave no response, only pressing herself further into his embrace. The man’s deep, magnetic voice rose sharply, “What on earth happened to you?”

Duan Feihan pulled her away, his crimson eyes fixed on her.

Her skin was pale as porcelain, her exquisite face flawless, save for a little dust on her clothes. Her bright eyes stared straight at him.

Hug me!

Why did you stop?

Duan Feihan’s large hand cupped her face, his fingers brushing along her cheek, threading through her dark hair to the back of her head.

Only then did Bai Chuwei come to herself. She struggled a little and said, “I’m fine. How could anything be wrong with me?”

She cast a regretful glance at Duan Feihan, then strode over to Duan Xingye and kicked him unceremoniously. “How much longer are you going to lie there? Didn’t your ancestor warn you not to leave the tutoring center? Were you supposed to wait here until your uncle and I finished our meal and came to pick you up?”

Only then did Bai Chuwei remember—had she paid the taxi fare?

Duan Xingye sat up from the ground, looking dazedly around at the crowd of onlookers.

He glanced down at his own arms—unscathed.

There was no blood on the ground, and his intestines and brains weren’t splattered everywhere…

How could this be?

“This is incredible! The two of them fell from the top floor and didn’t get a scratch?”

“My god, this is the first time I’ve seen someone jump from such a height and come out completely unharmed!”

“Are these two even human? Maybe they’re aliens?”

The crowd burst into lively discussion, and some concerned bystanders asked if they needed an ambulance.

Duan Xingye climbed to his feet, his eyes shining with excitement as he looked at Bai Chuwei.

He wasn’t dead? He actually survived!

He remembered Bai Chuwei had appeared out of nowhere—there’d been no one on the rooftop at all…

If not for Bai Chuwei, he might have fallen to his death!

Duan Xingye was so worked up he could barely form words. “Weiwei, goddess, did you save me? I...”

Was this even human?

She’d taken him down from the thirty-second floor—a hundred meters up—and they were both utterly unharmed.

Not only was he uninjured, but with his current energy, he felt like he could fill out another exam booklet!

A celestial being—she must be a celestial!

Goddess!

The entrance to the office building was in chaos; news had spread that someone had jumped. The security guards were nearly frightened out of their wits.

Someone jumped? And it was students, no less—this was serious.

A group of security guards rushed towards the crowd, only to see two students, both unscathed. The boy was gesticulating excitedly, while the girl stood with her arms crossed, her expression calm and unreadable. For a moment, it was hard to tell if either of them suffered from any mental issues.

The security captain’s gaze fell on the more composed Duan Feihan. He questioned him, “And what’s your relation to these two?”

Duan Feihan shot Duan Xingye a glance. “He’s my nephew.”

The captain nodded, suddenly enlightened. “Oh, so the girl must be your nephew’s girlfriend?”

Duan Feihan had never uttered a curse in his life, but at that, his expression turned glacial, and he snapped back, “Like hell!”

He seemed truly furious, deeply shaken, a fierce chill radiating from him and forcing the bystanders to instinctively edge away.

Bai Chuwei stood there watching, her brow furrowing. At last, she spoke up, “So you’re not going to buy me dinner?”

She’d just saved his nephew—surely he wouldn’t begrudge her a meal?
