Chapter 129: One Centimeter, One Hundred Thousand!
The boy grew instantly excited, scooting forward to sit down. He said sheepishly, "Student Bai, you’re amazing! You knew exactly what I came here for. Hello, my name is Cao Yushu, and I’m a student in Class 8, Grade 12."
Qi Yue didn't even hesitate, puffing out her chest with pride. "Of course! Do you have any idea who you're talking to? She’s my goddess!"
Bai Chuwei rested her chin on her hand and smiled.
The boy in front of her couldn't be called a heartthrob, but he had a refined and pleasant appearance. From her quick glance, he didn't seem to have any underlying health issues, save for his height.
Qi Yue asked with some curiosity, "If you don't mind me asking, just how tall are you?"
Cao Yushu’s face turned bright red. He whispered, clearly embarrassed, "I’m wearing elevator shoes... my... my actual height is 165 centimeters."
Qi Yue gasped. She was 162 centimeters herself, and her goddess was 170!
Bai Chuwei smiled at him and said, "Height is largely determined by genetics. I assume your parents aren't very tall, are they, Cao?"
Cao Yushu’s heart sank at these words.
He was able to attend Heng Hua High School because his family was quite well-off. Furthermore, he was decent-looking and his grades were above average. Yet, in his eighteen years, he had never received a love letter or a confession from a girl. Just last week, a girl in his class had mocked him in public, calling him a shrimp.
Short girls could wear high heels, but what were men supposed to do? There was a saying: a man under 170 centimeters was a "second-class invalid," and anyone shorter than that might as well be a dwarf.
Look at guys like Duan Xingye and Xu Xingchen—they were all over 180 centimeters, constantly surrounded by screaming girls wherever they went. Oh, right, Xu Xingchen wasn't at school today, but that was beside the point.
Cao Yushu had secretly taken countless bone-growth supplements, drank milk every day, and seen doctors, all to little effect. Even his parents felt deeply guilty, knowing their genetics had stunted his growth.
Hearing rumors that Bai Chuwei could even cure nearsightedness, Cao Yushu had grabbed a spot, hoping for a miracle for a lost cause. But Bai Chuwei's words felt like a bucket of cold water.
Cao Yushu gave a bitter laugh, stood up, and said, "Student Bai, I understand. You can't force genetics. I'll just let nature take its course."
As he turned to leave, Bai Chuwei called out to him, "Cao, your consultation fee."
Cao Yushu paused and looked back with a wry smile. "Are you asking about the fee? Don't worry about it, keep it. But I hope you and Qi Yue can keep this a secret." If the girls in his class found out he’d gone to Bai Chuwei to get his height checked, they’d likely spread it everywhere and laugh him to death.
Bai Chuwei rested her chin on her hand, glanced at Qi Yue, and said calmly, "Qi Yue, if he doesn't want to be treated, return the two-thousand-yuan fee. I don't care for that kind of money."
The small garden fell into a sudden silence, with only the sound of the wind blowing through...
A minute later, Cao Yushu rushed back, his eyes burning with excitement. "Student Bai... are you saying you can help me grow taller?"
The real business had finally arrived!
Bai Chuwei smiled, looking perfectly harmless. "That depends on how tall you want to be."
Cao Yushu was nearly frantic with excitement. "Me? I... I’d love to be over 180 centimeters... though 170 would be fine too."
Seeing the gleam in Bai Chuwei’s eyes, Qi Yue caught on immediately. She held up a finger and declared firmly, "One hundred thousand yuan per centimeter!"
Twenty centimeters would be two million yuan. Besides, the Cao family owned a chain of star-rated restaurants; they had plenty of money!
Before Cao Yushu could even open his mouth, Bai Chuwei chided Qi Yue righteously, "How can you be so predatory? A healer must have a conscience!" Did she think everyone was as gullible as Duan Feihan, who had been swindled out of three hundred million?
"If you want to be over 180, bring me a two-hundred-year-old wild medicinal herb. If you want 170, a seventy-to-eighty-year-old one will do."
Qi Yue: "???"
Goddess, isn't that even more of a rip-off?
