Chapter Thirty: Changing Professions to a Master Slacker
"Hello, Mr. Zhao. We meet again." Geros nodded at Zhao Tianhe, then addressed everyone present. "Greetings, everyone. I am Geros, a B+ ranked Summoner."
"Brother Zhao, you know this handsome guy? How do you know him? Did you meet at the Academy of Heroes?" Lennis whispered curiously from the side. "Which team is he from?"
"Not very well," Zhao Tianhe replied impassively, thinking to himself that he certainly couldn't say they’d met because Geros was investigating him for corruption.
"Excuse me, Mr. Geros?" A middle-aged man approached. "The airship is ready. We can set off now."
Since no one was well acquainted, they skipped pleasantries and boarded the ship to depart.
As a B+ ranked dungeon Summoner, Geros's strength was beyond question. With a few casual area spells of the second or third level, he could almost clear a D-rank dungeon by himself. Deducting the time for travel and lunch, he led Zhao Tianhe and the other newcomers through nine D-rank dungeons in a single day!
However, although even the first kill of minor monsters yielded experience, with such a large group, each person received little. Only two veterans, already high-level, managed a full rank-up. At this pace, a handful more dungeons would see everyone reach their next rank.
Thus, their training journey lasted until late into the night, with everyone completing their first advancement.
Returning to his apartment, Zhao Tianhe lounged leisurely on his bed and allocated all three new attribute points from leveling up to Agility, reaching a remarkable fifteen—higher even than Artoria’s. He then chose his new class.
Ordinary locals could only become Warriors or Mages, but as an outsider Spirit, Zhao Tianhe was eligible for both a standard local class and a unique exclusive class based on his attributes. He received the Warrior class and his own exclusive class: "Adaptee."
Warrior (General Class)
Warrior Talent:
Basic talent; each level gained increases Strength and Constitution by one, plus one free attribute point.
Unlocks the class skill system (skills may be acquired through training and system recognition).
The following branch talents—choose any two:
Endurance Branch:
- Brute Force: Drastically increases muscle burst power; doubles the attack and movement cap granted by base Strength.
- Iron Body: Drastically increases bodily density; doubles the defense granted by base Strength; every 10 points in Strength grants one point to all resistances (reducing all types of damage).
Technique Branch:
- Weapon Mastery: Exceptional aptitude for all weapons; can independently comprehend and rapidly improve weapon skills through practice.
- Between Life and Death: Greatly heightens sensitivity to mortal injuries.
Survival Branch:
- Vitality: Doubles the rate of HP and stamina recovery provided by base Constitution.
- Sturdy: Reconstructs and further develops the body; physique enlarges with Constitution; doubles HP provided by base Constitution; every 10 points in base Constitution grant one point in base Strength.
Suppression Branch:
- Savage Strike: Next attack deals bonus damage equal to (Strength + Constitution) x10; 5-minute cooldown, no cost.
- Intimidating Roar: A mighty shout; if the target’s Willpower (a special hidden stat that fluctuates with status and can be checked in detail anytime) is lower than yours, they become terrified for one second. After fear ends, all attributes decrease by ten for one minute. Ten-minute cooldown, no cost.
Adaptee (Earthling Exclusive Class)
Adaptee Talent:
Each class level grants two free attribute points and one free skill point (skill points may forcefully break skill level caps).
Unlocks the class skill system.
The following branch talents—choose any three:
Freedom Branch:
- Muscle Mastery: Freely control the distribution of muscle strength; HP recovery gains a bonus equal to one-tenth of Strength.
- Bone Mastery: Freely control bone density and structure; HP recovery gains the same Strength bonus as above, stackable.
- Organ Mastery: Freely control and reorganize internal organ functions; same bonus as above.
Seer Branch:
- Scout: Doubles the perception attribute provided by base Agility.
- Six Sense Mastery: Freely control the sensitivity of sensory organs (e.g., sacrificing hearing for super vision or a sixth sense).
- Keen Intellect: Doubles the insight attribute provided by Agility.
Indomitability Branch:
- Rising from Defeat: Every 10% HP lost increases basic attributes by 5%.
- Endless Reserves: Every 20% HP lost doubles the HP and stamina recovery rate from base Constitution.
- Survival Instinct Surge: When HP falls below 10%, all base attributes increase by 100%, all damage taken is reduced by 20%, instantly restore 20% max HP, lasts 30 seconds, one-hour cooldown.
Dominion Branch:
- Destructive Will: Strength gains a bonus from Spirit when attacking.
- Undying Will: HP and stamina recovery rates gain one point per point of Spirit.
- Awakening: Gain one Golden Skill Point (purpose undisclosed).
After considering, Zhao Tianhe chose Organ Mastery, Scout, and Six Sense Mastery.
Indeed, Zhao Tianhe was intent on slacking off. Internal organs and perception are interconnected, so mastering organs should benefit in scouting, though it would require some training before becoming a system-recognized skill.
"Ah, it’s not that I want to slack, but with Agility as my highest stat, what else could I do?" he muttered slyly to himself, shifting all his perception to hearing.
Instantly, it was as if all the sounds around him took on form. A gentle tap on the bedframe sent faint vibrations, whose wavelengths he caught completely. In a flash, the entire layout of the room unfolded in his mind.
"Ah!" With a soft exclamation, the structure of the soundwave grew even more vivid. He felt as if he could hear even the dust drifting through the air.
And although his hearing was now keen, he was certain he wouldn’t be overwhelmed by loud noises—no fear of cacophony from heightened hearing. Of course, inherently harmful super-noises were another matter.
"Hmm, now then…" He crept to the wall, pressed his ear to it, and held his breath.
Sure enough, he soon discerned Lennis’s exact movements next door from the faint vibrations.
Heartbeat and breathing are normal… Wait, why the sudden quickening? Hm… Geros? Uh…
Zhao Tianhe calmed his senses, clicked his tongue in annoyance, and rubbed his ear. Heard something indecent—honestly, is it always about looks? Sigh, not that I care for that little girl, but it’d be nice to experience being idolized for once… Wait! I could chat with Ailei!
Unfortunately, Ailei was asleep.
