Chapter 60: The Overprotective Husband Makes His Move (Part 1)
“I invented it myself.”
“You invented it yourself?” Ji Yun nearly choked on his water. “You can summon thunder just by drawing casually? You’re saying you created this yourself?”
Ji Yun was clearly skeptical.
“Yes, didn’t it strike Chu Yu?” Ji Yin retorted.
Ji Yun was almost beside himself with rage. Was he asking about the power of the talisman? She struck Chu Yu as if it were something to be proud of!
Ji Yin wasn’t lying. If this was truly the case… Ji Yun’s heart was torn once again.
If Ji Yin had been a boy, possessing such formidable ability, he would have been delighted. But Ji Yin was a girl, and he and Yuan’er had always hoped she would lead an ordinary life, with nothing to set her apart.
“Besides this talisman, can you draw others?” Ji Shaofeng asked gently.
“Yes.” Ji Yin nodded.
“Do the other talismans have such powerful effects as well?”
“They should. If this one works, the others probably will too.”
Ji Yun was at a loss for words. This was hardly good news for him.
Suddenly, hurried footsteps sounded outside.
“Master National Preceptor, His Majesty has arrived at Tianyuan Sect. Please come to receive him.”
Ji Yun immediately stood up. “Everyone, come with me.”
Ji Shaowen was worried, tugging at Ji Shaofeng’s sleeve. “Big Brother, the Emperor is here. What should we do?”
“Stay calm,” Ji Shaofeng replied coolly.
Just as they stepped out of Tianyuan Sect, they saw Bei Mingyu’s grand procession approaching.
Ji Yun quickened his pace.
Behind Bei Mingyu was Chu Shenghong, his face full of anxiety.
“Greetings, Your Majesty,” Ji Yun stepped forward to salute.
“Rise, my loyal subject.” Bei Mingyu’s gaze passed over Ji Yun and settled on Ji Yin.
“Ji Yun, how is Yu’er? I must see my Yu’er!” Chu Shenghong asked urgently.
Ji Shaofeng stepped forward, cupping his hands. “Rest assured, Lord Chu. I have just checked his injuries, and Young Master Chu is not seriously harmed.”
Chu Shenghong naturally didn’t trust any member of the Ji family. He had brought his own physician, including the imperial doctor. He needed to see with his own eyes that his son was safe to feel at ease.
“Lord Chu, you and the eldest Ji young master will go together to see Young Master Chu,” Bei Mingyu commanded in a low voice.
“Yes, Your Majesty!”
Bei Mingyu entered the Tianyuan Hall, once again casting his gaze at Ji Yin, who stood behind Ji Yun.
Ji Yin met Bei Mingyu’s gaze without a hint of fear.
Ji Yun immediately stepped forward. “Your Majesty, it is my failure to discipline my child. I am willing to bear all responsibility and accept your punishment.”
“It was a fair contest. Where is the fault in that?” Ji Yin’s voice rang out in the hall.
“You injured your fellow disciple and still dare to argue!” Ji Yun rebuked.
“You call this injuring a fellow disciple? If every one of them is treated like a precious treasure, unable to be touched or challenged, what is the point of raising disciples in Tianyuan Sect?” Ji Yin strode forward, her words clear and forceful.
“Ji Yun, I find the seventh young master’s words not without reason,” Bei Mingyu said.
“Your Majesty…” Ji Yun was bewildered. Was the Emperor not here to punish them?
Chu Shenghong, having just seen his son’s condition, could not bear it and rushed to the Tianyuan Hall, throwing himself at Bei Mingyu’s feet.
“Your Majesty, you must stand up for Yu’er! They dare claim that Yu’er is not seriously injured! My son’s face is ruined, burned half to death!”
“Well, that’s what happens when struck by lightning,” Ji Yin interjected.
“You!” Chu Shenghong pointed at Ji Yin. “Your Majesty, it was him, it was him who harmed my son!”
