Chapter 144 You Are Too Young
"Mm," Xuanyuan Ji nodded gently.
"We didn't, you know... do anything, did we?"
Xuanyuan Ji turned his head to look at her. "Are you hoping something happened, or are you hoping nothing happened at all?"
Ji Yin muttered inwardly. Clearly, she was the one asking him, right? How did he manage to throw the question right back at her?
Of course she was hoping nothing had happened!
She gave Xuanyuan Ji another appraisal look. Seeing no unusual signs about him, nothing must have happened. Otherwise, he certainly would have discovered she was a girl!
Good, good, she rejoiced secretly in her heart.
"Yin'er, you're too young..." Xuanyuan Ji suddenly remarked.
"Me? Too young? Then just how old are you!" Ji Yin retorted, bracing herself, her gaze unable to help straying downward toward the region three inches below Xuanyuan Ji's waist.
"Are you misunderstanding something?"
"What is there for me to misunderstand? You're the one who said I'm small!"
"I meant that you are young in age."
"Cough! Cough!" Ji Yin choked, struggling for breath.
The implication of those words was truly food for thought.
She didn't want to overthink it. Not even a little bit.
Do not think about anything at all, do not think!
"Great Demon, look! Actually, little brother Xuanyuan wants you to sleep with him too! He just thinks you're still a bit too small. Don't be afraid, give it a couple more years and you'll get him!"
With a flick of her hand, Ji Yin slapped a seal on the voice. Damn it, you talk way too much!
The atmosphere seemed to freeze instantly, save for the crackling of the campfire beneath the roasting fish, sending up gentle wisps of smoke while an enticing aroma filled the surrounding air.
Xuanyuan Ji turned the fish over, roasting both sides until they were golden brown, then picked it up to inspect it closely. "It's done. You can eat."
Just as Ji Yin reached out to take it, she noticed him picking up a clean leaf to place the fish upon, his movements utterly graceful. She had originally intended to just grab it and bite into it directly.
"Careful, it's hot. Watch out for the bones."
Ji Yin took it, cradling the fish in her hands. It smelled so good.
"Did you find my second and third brothers?"
"Found them. They will rendezvous with us during the next shift of the array formation."
"You must have this array formation completely figured out by now, right?" Ji Yin felt that Xuanyuan Ji's familiarity with the array was almost as if he were strolling through his own back garden.
A fleeting emotion flashed across Xuanyuan Ji's eyes.
He, too, felt a sense of familiarity with this array—so familiar that it felt as though he had laid it out with his own hands. Yet, given his current strength, it was utterly impossible for him to have set up such a powerful formation.
"I merely know the arrangement of the array nodes," he explained.
Ji Yin blew on the fish meat, took a bite, and instantly narrowed her eyes in bliss like a greedy cat. "Delicious."
Xuanyuan Ji looked at her, a gentle smile touching his lips.
"We've been in here for quite a while now. Do you think the Mountains and Rivers Seal is actually inside here or not?" Ji Yin asked indistinctly around mouthfuls of food.
Xuanyuan Ji shook his head. "I'm not certain either."
"If it's not here, wouldn't this trip be for nothing?"
"It cannot be considered a wasted trip."
Ji Yin finished the fish in her hand in one go. For some reason, she always felt that the taste of this roasted fish seemed somewhat familiar. Once she finished, she cast her gaze toward the other fish.
Xuanyuan Ji placed the second fish on a leaf as well and handed it to her.
"Aren't you going to eat?"
"I'm not hungry."
"I'm about to starve to death, then I'll eat it all."
"It was originally prepared just for you."
Hearing Xuanyuan Ji say this, Ji Yin stopped standing on ceremony and immediately dug in.
