Chapter 121: How Frustrating!
Ji Yun cupped his hands together, his face full of apology. “Young Master Xuanyuan, my daughter’s mischief has caused you much trouble.”
“Since Yin’er is my disciple, whatever I do is only right,” Xuanyuan Ji replied calmly.
“It must have been her disobedience, secretly following you and causing so many problems.”
Ji Yin thought to herself: So what she said before was true—her father didn’t believe a single word!
“That is indeed troublesome,” Xuanyuan Ji lowered his head and glanced at Ji Yin, a barely perceptible smile flickering in his eyes. “But I can handle it. Rest assured, National Master, I just set a binding spell—she won’t be able to leave my side even a step. I will bring her out of Zhiyun Mountain safe and sound.”
With those words from Xuanyuan Ji, Ji Yun finally felt at ease.
He bowed once more to Xuanyuan Ji. “Thank you, Young Master Xuanyuan.” Then turning to Ji Yin, his expression immediately turned stern. “You absolutely cannot cause trouble while staying by Young Master Xuanyuan’s side! Do you hear me? You must obey him, or else, when we return home, I will discipline you according to our family rules.”
Ji Yin pouted. “I understand!”
Was it even possible for her not to obey Xuanyuan Ji?
Xuanyuan Ji began walking around, wanting to survey their surroundings carefully.
Ji Yin obediently followed close behind, never leaving his side, resembling a clingy child. Only she knew how frustrated she felt inside.
She lifted her head and glanced toward Mo Chuan, who was so far away. If anything happened to Mo Chuan, who would save him?
They didn’t even know how long they would be trapped on Zhiyun Mountain, and Mo Chuan was the only one among them who could cook!
Suddenly, Xuanyuan Ji stopped in his tracks. Ji Yin, lost in her own thoughts, bumped into him again.
This time it was her forehead that hit him, and she immediately rubbed it in pain.
Xuanyuan Ji gently pulled away her hand and looked at her forehead. “Distracted. What are you thinking about?”
“Master Mo!” Ji Yin tidied her hair and blurted out.
Xuanyuan Ji’s gaze suddenly darkened.
“Master, a person should not break their promises. If you make a promise, you must keep it, right?”
“Mm.” Xuanyuan Ji seemed unwilling to say more.
“I promised Master Mo that I would protect him well. Now I’m so far from him—how can I protect him? If something happens to him, I will bear the greatest responsibility,” Ji Yin said earnestly.
“He is very important to you? You care for him that much?”
“Yes!” Ji Yin nodded.
The Scarlet Flame Ferret muttered: …Looks like the atmosphere is getting tense and oppressive again!
The Demon Cauldron groaned: …I’m doomed! Could Da Mo really be so emotionally inept that there’s no saving him?
“If you made a promise, you must keep it. Do you think I should break mine?” Xuanyuan Ji retorted, tossing the question back to Ji Yin.
“I’m not like Master Mo! He truly needs protection. I can protect myself.”
“You can protect yourself?”
“I managed to escape safely when surrounded by a group of great white apes, and I also escaped unscathed when I encountered the winged serpent outside before.”
“That was luck! What would have happened if I hadn’t been there just now?”
Ji Yin was left speechless, unable to argue against Xuanyuan Ji—how frustrating!
She glanced at Mo Chuan again, noticing that he was watching her too.
Mo Chuan looked at Ji Yin, who was following Xuanyuan Ji closely, a trace of disappointment flashing in his eyes. He turned back to continue working on unlocking the palace gates. At the moment, it seemed like the only way out was here.
On both sides of the palace rose towering cliffs that vanished into the sky. The platform before them connected only to a bridge; everywhere else appeared to hang over a void. Below raged a river of molten lava.
